“The alleged robbery victim, memorabilia dealer Alfred Beardsley, told celebrity news Web site TMZ.com that Simpson and five other men muscled their way into the hotel room and stole several items at gunpoint.
Beardsley told TMZ he had obtained several items once owned by Simpson, including the suit the ex-NFL star wore when he was acquitted of murder charges in the 1994 slashing deaths of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.
Over the years Simpson, who was found liable for the deaths in a civil trial, sold off several of his sports collectibles, including his Heisman Trophy, to pay a fraction of the judgment. Including interest, he still owes the Goldman family about $38 million.
Beardsley told TMZ he had set up a meeting with a man [Tom Riccio?] who claimed to be interested in buying the suit and other Simpson items. According to Beardsley, the man turned out to be an associate of Simpson’s and was part of the group that showed up in the hotel room, two allegedly with guns drawn.”
