That’s funny.

“The alleged robbery victim, memorabilia dealer Alfred Beardsley, told celebrity news Web site TMZ.com that Simpson and five other men muscled their way into the hotel room and stole several items at gunpoint.

Beardsley told TMZ he had obtained several items once owned by Simpson, including the suit the ex-NFL star wore when he was acquitted of murder charges in the 1994 slashing deaths of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.

Over the years Simpson, who was found liable for the deaths in a civil trial, sold off several of his sports collectibles, including his Heisman Trophy, to pay a fraction of the judgment. Including interest, he still owes the Goldman family about $38 million.

Beardsley told TMZ he had set up a meeting with a man [Tom Riccio?] who claimed to be interested in buying the suit and other Simpson items. According to Beardsley, the man turned out to be an associate of Simpson’s and was part of the group that showed up in the hotel room, two allegedly with guns drawn.”

Friend to testify in O.J. Simpson wrongful death suit

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) — A friend of O.J. Simpson has been ordered to appear in court regarding the finances of the former football star, who was acquitted of double murder but slapped with a $33.5 million settlement that remains unpaid to the victims’ families.

Alfred Beardsley must appear Nov. 23 in Los Angeles Superior Court in Santa Monica. The order, issued Tuesday, was at the request of Fred Goldman, whose son Ron Goldman was brutally stabbed to death along with Nicole Brown Simpson.

Fred Goldman’s attorney wrote in a declaration filed with the court that Beardsley “has knowledge” of Simpson’s “financial condition” and of his “non-exempt property, which may be ordered to be applied to the satisfaction of the judgment.”

-snip-

Today, a man named Alfred Beardsley was subpoenaed to appear in court to see if he was helping O.J. squirrel away cash. Beardsley is an O.J. Simpson fan and memorabilia collector. The Goldman family suspected Beardsley might be up to no good after hearing he‘d done some business with Simpson in the past. Here‘s what O.J. had to say about that.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SIMPSON: For them to tell the courts that this guy is a friend of mine, other than the guy who‘s an autograph collector, who I may have seen twice in my life, twice in my entire life. Certainly I‘ve never done any business with him, other than autographs.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ABRAMS: We will talk to the man at the—we talked to the man at the center of that court hearing, Alfred Beardsley earlier today. He said when he reported to the courthouse, there was a closed door hearing and he was forced to give over two press passes that would be considered O.J. Simpson memorabilia.

Has he ever paid them anything?
