Helsinki, Sep. 12, 2007 (CWNews.com) - Europe's first Islamic political party has formed in Finland.

The Finnish Islamic Party plans to collect 5,000 signatures in order to qualify for official registration by the end of the year. Counting on support from the 55,000 Muslims living in Finland, the party anticipates some success in next year's municipal elections as well as in the 2011 parliamentary elections. Party spokesman Abdullah Tammi acknowledged to reporters that to date the party has enrolled only a few dozen members.

The Finnish Islamic Party platform supports a ban on alcohol sales, the option for Muslim children to be excused from school music classes and outings to swimming pools, legal status for ritual animal killing and male circumcision, and the eventual introduction of SHARIA LAW in Finland. Tammi added that the purpose of Sharia law was to prevent crime.

It gets pretty cold in Detroit

Finland is so cold that much of the Russian army froze to death in the Finno Russian war of 1939.

Of course the main Finnish pastime is the Sauna bath. First you sit in a heated room, up to nearly 150 degrees, naked, beating your associates with birch twigs, to increase the circulation. Then you run out of the sauna to the adjoining lake, jump through the hole cut in the ice, into the water. Your blood pressure jumps up to 220/150, and if you haven’t had a coronary, you go through the whole process again.

I like sauna. I have some friends with a wood fired sauna that sits on a creek. We sit in the sauna for a while and then jump in the creek but the range of temperatures is nothing like a Finnish lake.

When I was a prison counselor in Colorado I was invited by the Native American inmates into their sweat lodge ceremony which was one afternoon per week. After sweating with them once I found a group in Gardner, Colorado, in the mountains west of Walsenburg, that sweat on Sundays. I went there off and on during the spring and summer of 2003, the last year before I moved back to Tennessee. They do a four-day Sun Dance ceremony there every year and a Vision Quest.

Since men enter the ceremony without a shirt you can see the scars on their chests from where the hooks have been set in the Sun Dances they have done.

The sweat lodge ceremony, which is Lakota and other Plains tribes, is divided into “doors.” A “door” starts when hot lava rocks are brought from a fire with iron tongs into the sweat lodge and dropped into a pit in the middle of the lodge. Then the flap—or “door” is closed—and the elder begins poring water over the stones. It gets close to 200 degrees in there for a short time. People chant and a drum is beaten. People take turns praying out loud. It is pitch black and you sit, packed in there like sardines. The door lasts about 15 minutes or so until the rocks cool. Then the flap is lifted and you can step outside for a few minutes until the next door starts.
Anyway, I never sweat during the winter but they told me that at the end of a door during the winter they roll around in the snow.

Mannerheim and the Finnish Winter War is one of the lesser known epic battles in WWII. Incredible tale. The Finns are one tough people.

This is why I have been campaigning for Moslems to be barred from voting . They claim that democracy is unIslamic AND they loath or way of life so why should they have the privileges of living in the West ?
Unfortunately , their votes count in inner city constituencies - often vital during an election . Therefore politicians ( even Conservative ones ) keep grovelling to them , at the expense of the majority .

That is why many foresee a genuine Apocalypse across the world in the next 20 years.

I'm of Finnish ancestry, so those battles are a source of some pride. If you get the chance, read A Frozen Hell: The Russo-Finnish Winter War of 1939-1940 by William Trotter. One of the finest military books I've come across.
