Two Miami-Dade police officers have been injured in a so-called Tactical Operation gone bad in Cutler Bay.
This is currently a developing story that began at SW 281st Street and 143rd Court in Cutler Bay where the two officers were possibly shot, reportedly with an assault rifle.
Other officers may have also been hurt but only with minor injuries.
At least one officer has been transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
After the shooting, one suspect barricaded himself inside a building at 280th Street and Southwest 143RD Court.
The other suspect took off in a White Honda Accord and began driving on the Turnpike and led police on a short chase before he bailed out at 222nd Street and SW 110th Avenue.
That suspect, described as a chubby white man with long black hair remains on the loose.
Broward County police agencies have been alerted to the shooting of the Miami-Dade Officers.
This is a developing story so keep checking back here on CBS4.COM for updates
2 layers deception?
I know! I’m starting to doubt the entire narrative.
Shawn LaBeet has an outstanding (previous warrant) for armed assault.
That’s a big surprise, not!
THE GUY IS STILL LOOSE!
No information on the injured officers ‘till tonight.
You're kidding right????
I've never been in a rat trap hovel where welfare folk live that didn't have a 56"+ flat screen hi-def TV inside with the latest gaming system attached and at least $3,000 worth of DVD's lying about.
No I'm not kidding. Yes it almost seems as if people in govt. housing actually get issued HI-Def large panel flat screens with their free/low rent apts..
2 layers deception?

If this guy got a clean break shortly after ditching the first white car, he could be in another state by now.
Police identified wrong man as suspect
Miami-Dade police spent more than four hours looking for the wrong suspect in the shooting of four officers Thursday morning.
Police say they are now searching for 25-year-old Shawn Sherwin LaBeet. Investigators believe LaBeet has been using the identity of Kevin Wehner, whom police first identified as the suspect in the Cutler Bay shooting that left one officer dead and three injured.
Police spokeswoman Linda O’Brien blamed the mistaken identity on a witness who lied to detectives about the suspect.
``A woman associated with LaBeet lied to us,`` O’Brien told The Herald. ``We have been misled.’’
Police believe LaBeet may have been using Wehner’s identification, O’Brien said.
Wehner, in fact, is in Jacksonville. He went to the police there after learning he was named in the South Dade shooting.
‘’It’s a case of mistaken identity,’’ Wehner’s uncle told the Miami Herald.
Margate police officers set up a perimeter around 3 p.m. Thursday south of Royal Palm Boulevard and State Road 7 as part of the investigation, said Detective Chip Kolenda, a spokesman for Margate police.
LaBeet appears to have relatives in Margate, records show.

That lying witch is in for some BIG time heat. Pity the fool ........
I’m sceptical about the whole burglary stakeout story. I’m wondering if were investigating guy and/or others specifically on something else and it went down bad.
Has anyone checked the “myspace” type sites for this guy? He could have a page that would give us more info. I’ve got to give my son a bath so i’ll try to catch up with ya’ll in a little while.
Uh huh.
bump
Have they said whether the four cops shot were all riding in the same car, or did they use two vehicles to stop him?
Naw, just a juvie SUV. Hopefully, a few years in juvie impound will turn this poor, misguided soul around, before it becomes a raving, out of control Hummer.
Channel 7 reporting that man detained was the suspect’s brother who looks very much like Shawn LaBeet.
“Another black SUV is off the streets.”
So what does race have to do with this story?
Have to admit the scenario is bizarre. 4 officers are on a burglary stakeout during the day (prevoiusly they were on a ‘sweep’) and they happen to run into a nut who happened to have bought 3 AK-47s a few months before.
* * *
On the other hand — it could just be a horrible accident that actually ends up saving a bunch of lives. The officer who died and the three who were injured may have through their sacrifice prevented something much worse — like this nut shooting up a school or something.
I haven’t heard whether they were riding together, only that there were more police there at the time than just the 4 that were shot. Of course, the way the information is coming out on this, that could be wrong.
and two of the officers were uniformed. On a stakeout.
