Two Miami-Dade police officers have been injured in a so-called Tactical Operation gone bad in Cutler Bay.
This is currently a developing story that began at SW 281st Street and 143rd Court in Cutler Bay where the two officers were possibly shot, reportedly with an assault rifle.
Other officers may have also been hurt but only with minor injuries.
At least one officer has been transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
After the shooting, one suspect barricaded himself inside a building at 280th Street and Southwest 143RD Court.
The other suspect took off in a White Honda Accord and began driving on the Turnpike and led police on a short chase before he bailed out at 222nd Street and SW 110th Avenue.
That suspect, described as a chubby white man with long black hair remains on the loose.
Broward County police agencies have been alerted to the shooting of the Miami-Dade Officers.
This is a developing story so keep checking back here on CBS4.COM for updates
Wow. That doesn’t even look the same person.
I hope some family isn’t being held hostage somewhere
Looks like a DEA or US Customs UH-60 Blackhawk helo moving over the canal area.
Painted very dark with a light horizontal stripe.
Saw one of these at DuPage County IL airport a few years back.
That’s not the same man.
The first one supposedly came from his Fl driver’s lic? Where does this other one come from...
Gotta go- got work..BBL:)
that is ICE
Oh, boy. If true, watch this story disappear down a rat hole.
Ch7 reports the female officer has a ‘shattered leg’
Per WSVN-TV feed
Police were proactively patrolling the community in the interest of keeping burglaries down (must’ve been a rash).
Exact circumstances of the encounter are presently unknown .. they encountered him directly and the situation immediately escalated.
Radio messages were — police shooting, multiple injuries ..
Reporter down in the neighborhood .. everything’s locked down, extensive searching everywhere.
Anyone harboring him will be treated as a subject .. you will not escape prosecution.
NO ONE has a hard copy up yet on their TV station or even the Miami Herald or Miami-Dade Police of the CORRECT PHOTO up of this killer.
They're not sure which pic is more current? Heck, it doesn't even look like the same guy to me.
that guy looks like Mustafa in Dirty Harry
My wife and I were a couple of miles from there, in line at at Tim’s Oriental Market with two cops, when it happened. Something was said over their radio, and I paid no attention as one of them turned it up. Then there was a short vocal burst, and I looked at their faces to see what race they were because I couldn’t understand a word. Then came a quick, “Officer down!” just like on TV, and then nothing more... We all paused and listened, 5 seconds later just an address was spoken. The two cops looked at each other and waited 2-3 seconds for it to sink in, and then left their stuff at the counter and hurried, almost running, into their police van parked 20 ft. away.
I said to my wife, “We’ll here about this on the news”. It was kind of cool. For the next 15 minutes there were cops racing to the scene.
NBC 6 now saying they do not know which picture is most recent.
The unshaven picture makes the suspect look -very- much younger than the Rasta guy picture.
They’re already blaming the sunset of the so-called Assault Weapon Ban . The weapons were legally available during the 10 year ban , they just couldn’t be newly manufactured during the ban .
A current or past gun ban would have done absolutely nothing to prevent this .
Just wanted to clear that up .
new photo staying up full time on ch 7 online live feed
The supposed updated photo they’re now showing on channel 10 shows a clean-shaven guy that looks completely different than this one. I don’t know how to do a side-by-side but they don’t look like the same person to me.
They appear to be 2 different people to me. Their noses are different.
Sure doesn't. The clean cut one is supposed to be more recent. Given this and the lack of criminal record it doesn't seem to be a gang-banger (M13, etc). So unless there was a pound or two of coke in the vehicle, why take out 4 cops? Also, taking out 4 cops in a "shoot out" situation and evading hundreds for 4 hours tells me this is one cool, capable person. I've got a hundred dollar bill here for the cop who takes him out.
I haven’t heard where the 2nd picture is from. They just do not appear to be the same person to me.
