Two Miami-Dade police officers have been injured in a so-called Tactical Operation gone bad in Cutler Bay.
This is currently a developing story that began at SW 281st Street and 143rd Court in Cutler Bay where the two officers were possibly shot, reportedly with an assault rifle.
Other officers may have also been hurt but only with minor injuries.
At least one officer has been transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
After the shooting, one suspect barricaded himself inside a building at 280th Street and Southwest 143RD Court.
The other suspect took off in a White Honda Accord and began driving on the Turnpike and led police on a short chase before he bailed out at 222nd Street and SW 110th Avenue.
That suspect, described as a chubby white man with long black hair remains on the loose.
Broward County police agencies have been alerted to the shooting of the Miami-Dade Officers.
This is a developing story so keep checking back here on CBS4.COM for updates

the feed I'm watching is showing his picture pretty much constantly.
whew..so one is OK.
This is truly bizarre..there is on HELL of an enormous police presence in the area.
Am guessing they have a large are cordoned off..and now have to clear it..
“several hundred officers on scene..border patrol, FDLE, Fl HP, and local Miami Dade..”
MAYOR is coming up..
Pretty much.
Heavy police presence at the hospital also...
Huh?
Really, and these were some kind of burglary response team. Should be “tactical” types and not rookie traffic cops.
Their soft body armor may not have been sufficient protection against the bad guy if he was using a rifle.
I suspect the bad guy had body armor. He was probably jacked up on crack or meth and came out of the car smokin’. The police probably hit him with a couple of pistol rounds but he shrugged them off and returned superior firepower with his rifle.
Very tragic, in a post 9/11 world the authorities need to have better training and tactics.
when two officers were shot in burbank, over 400 showed up within 2 hours.
That's right in the area where I lived, pre-Andrew .. Naranja Lakes. It's probably a reconstructed area.
Put your mouse right on the map, and move the whole map in any direction.
WSVN-TV Miami - news updates and video
Per the news update, the number of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty is the highest in 30 years.
I'm still trying to figure out, why they were tracking this guy .. and did it start at a private home or an apartment complex?
Agreed, but I was talking about Black Muslims in the area. Just as an FYI, do a search on any of the search engines for Black muslims in Miami or Black Muslims in Tampa. It's an eye opener.
I can see them not wearing their vests...its hot and muggy there. that is why all the hoods are raised on the police cars, so they dont overheat.
Now, pulling over an erratic driver is something else. In CA they get a patrol car to do that....but that is the way the vehicle code is written etc. (Unmarked car cant issue a traffic citation)
Did you have to?
We’ve heard he was “driving erratically” and we’ve heard the officers were on “ a tactical stakeout”...
Not sure what it all means yet..
There is something seriously wrong with that photo.
Prayers for the officers and their fmailies.
I guess the Ukrainians in the neighborhood won’t know what’s going on......
I got the impression they were on an unrelated stakeout...and the guy just came barreling through the neighborhood....
but you folks have been watching longer.
Lots of residential burglarlies among the flipper homes in Florida....actually, that is happening all over in the overbuilt areas.
You got it right...
