Abortion as a benchmark is meaningless when deciding who to vote for next year. Giulianni has already stated his PERSONAL preference on abortion and that is he detests the practice. he has said that as long as it is the law of the land he will support it, which is his JOB.

You fail to mention that he said he would also support any bill that came across his desk expanding abortion and government paid abortion for poor women.

Rudi would prosecute the war aggressively, my concern is given his background he wouldn’t let the constitution or a conflict between security and individual freedom get in his way. He would consolidate power in the Federal Government.

I’d rather fight the terrorists on our own soil with my own guns to defend my GOD given rights than give them up for the promise of protection the government really can’t keep. What good does winning the war on terror do if we come out of it without our basic constitutional rights, the welfare system completely bankrupt, and our country being pulled down into the 3rd world?

I don’t base my vote solely on one issue, I would even support a candidate who doesn’t oppose abortion if he/she was a believer in smaller government, unhindered exercise of the second amendment, states’ rights, individual liberty and accountability, and a free market economy that favors American interests and security.

“Screw ALL of the debates! They’re worthless.”

I don’t know; the Gore-Bush debate provided some pretty hilarious material for SNL that year.

If it comes down to Rudy against Hillary, of course I would vote for him. He is the lesser (though not by much) evil.

I would not like it but I would still vote for him. I don’t think I will have to worry about it though. Rudy better get used to playing second fiddle.

Looks like you hijacked this thread.

Ding, ding ding! We have a winner!

Anything to try to divert attention away from Fred's bounce in the polls, it appears.

Do they deserve someone like Hillary Clinton as their Commander In Chief?

They deserve somebody a damned sight better than Mrs. Bill Clinton.

Actually, you are the one who is misinformed. Rudy himself is on record stating that his policies are the same as Bill Clinton's.

You might want to read through the Giulliani Truth Files that Jim has posted at the top of the page.

At the same time that Rudy may appeal to moderates and independents, he absolutely turns off the base of the party more than canceling out his appeal to moderates. All you have to do is read through the posts on this page to see the depth and width of total dislike for the policies, positions, and behavior of Rudy.

He’s the only staunch Federalist. That’s a big differentiator.

I wouldn’t crow too much about Fred Ts numbers.

The Rasmussen polls shows Obama and Hillary beating Fred T. by 4% points and and average of 5 of the major polls spread of 13% for Obama and 8% for Hillary.

Voting for Rudy is the same as moving the Republican Party further left and abandoning basic conservative principles. That, in the long term, is far worse than a Hillary presidency. I will write in a candidate if Rudy is the nominee.

Now, knowing that, and admitting that your primary goal is preventing a Democrat presidency, even to the extent of voting for “anybody”, wouldn’t it be simpler to come over to this side of the fence and support the candidate that’s surging into the lead in several polls?

Hillary vs. Rudy would ensure a very low voter turnout, in my opinion.

One week into his campaign and he's leading Fruity Rooty by 8 points.

Well, "Generic Democrat" was leading Bush by an even larger margin early in 2004. Then they had to fill in the blank with the world's most successful Gigolo.

Right now, Fred is enjoying almost total support of those who do not like Rudi, McCain or Romney. He is the Generic Republican.

While I'm sure Fred is far more qualified than Lurch, he will suffer the same fate unless he shows some fire in the belly . . . and soon.

Anyone who brings down the Hildebeast is going to have to work a lot harder in the general election, because the witch's minions and her enemedia allies will be working 24/7 to get her elected.

Fred Thompson's strategy so far just ain't going to cut it.

Your strategy of not paying attention isn't cutting it either.

I will vote for Thompson or whomever is the Rep candidate. I am asking that ALL of us do the same. Our priority is to put someone in the WH who is STRONG on defense and will not raise taxes.

The people here who claim Clinton is no different then Rudy are totally, completely and terminally brain dead.

Wow! An earthshaking link about yet another Clinton scandal. If you really think this is going to bring down the witch with the enemedia pimping for her 24/7, then you probably thought Bob Dole had a great chance of beating them in 1996.

And Bob Dole showed at least a work ethic which Fred Thompson, so far, has not.

Not voting if you don’t get your dream candidate is the very same thing as voting for Hillary or whomever they nominate. That is the same as handing the nation over to terrorist enablers and power hungry tax raising socilaists/

Doing it your way will leave us with not only no Party to rebuild, it will leave us with no Country at all.

You fanatics are totally whacked out.

I support FT but will vote for any Repub candidate to stop Hillary- she is a bad lady.

When we get down to it I think most feel the same way.
Hillary inspires “Fear”

Let me think about this. In the campaign for one week and been to how many states? Let's see, there was Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Florida. You're right. He sure is a slacker.

Look for Rudy to run on a third party ticket when it becomes clear he will NOT be the GOP nominee.

As a third party candidate, I’m not sure if he’d take more votes away from the Dem nominee or the GOP nominee. Anyhow, let the good times roll mama.

"The people here who claim Clinton is no different then Rudy are totally, completely and terminally brain dead."

There are a lot of folks here that don't make that claim. But a lot of us really believe Rudy's official positions on core idealogical beliefs are a lot closer to Clinton than they are to those of the other Republican candidates.

"Our priority is to put someone in the WH who is STRONG on defense and will not raise taxes."

At the expense of the moral fabric of our society? I cannot trust a President Giuliani to veto tougher gun control legislation, to nominate and fight for strict constitutionalist judges, to work for and protect the sanctity of life, and to effectively work on the illegal immigration problem in this country. I don't think any of the candidates are perfect, but to support a guy on only 2 issues (fiscal policy and claims to be tough on terror), really isn't in the best interests of this country and the conservative movement in general.

It is usually better to not talk about these things until after the primary, as it often raises hackles around here. But I can't recall a candidate that has inspired such division within one political party. Was 1976 like this (Ford/Reagan)?
