In the video Usama bin Laden released last week, he attempts to rebut the "neocon" assertion that immediate withdrawal from Iraq will precipitate a genocidal bloodbath with a history lesson that could have been delivered at any number of college campuses in the U.S.:
"[T]he morality and culture of the holocaust is your culture, not our culture. In fact, burning living beings is forbidden in our religion, even if they be small like the ant, so what of man?! The holocaust of the Jews was carried out by your brethren in the middle of Europe, but had it been closer to our countries, most of the Jews would have been saved by taking refuge with us. And my proof for that is in what your brothers, the Spanish, did when they set up the horrible courts of the Inquisition to try Muslims and Jews, when the Jews only found safe shelter by taking refuge in our countries. And that is why the Jewish community in Morocco today is one of the largest communities in the world. They are alive with us and we have not incinerated them, but we are a people who don't sleep under oppression and reject humiliation and disgrace, and we take revenge on the people of tyranny and aggression, and the blood of the Muslims will not be spilled with impunity, and the morrow is nigh for he who awaits."
Also, your Christian brothers have been living among us for 14 centuries: in Egypt alone, there are millions of Christians whom we have not incinerated and shall not incinerate. But the fact is, there is a continuing and biased campaign being waged against us for a long time now by your politicians and many of your writers by way of your media, especially Hollywood, for the purpose of misrepresenting Islam and its adherents to drive you away from the true religion. The genocide of peoples and their holocausts took place at your hands: only a few specimens of Red Indians were spared, and just a few days ago, the Japanese observed the 62nd anniversary of the annihilation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by your nuclear weapons."
Usama’s history of the world leaves out numerous Muslim massacres and atrocities committed against Christian populations over a period of centuries. Here are three modern examples of Muslim "morality":
† The Armenian Genocide of 1915-1917, during which 1.5 million Christian Armenians were systematically murdered by Muslims in Ottoman Turkey (warning: graphic images). Even as Armenians in this country continue their years-long struggle to have the Genocide recognized in a symbolic Congressional resolution (HR/SR 106), historians are beginning to move beyond the term "genocide" and are recasting this crime against humanity as the first Muslim jihad against a Christian population in modern times.
† Ottoman Turks also massacred 750,000 Assyrian Christians between 1914 and 1920 in a systematic campaign to rid Anatolia of Christians. As with the Armenians, the Assyrians were driven from their villages in "death marches" to the Syrian desert, dying along the way from starvation and dehydration.
† In 1822, the Turkish cavalry hanged, slaughtered and tortured to death approximately 42,000 Greeks living on the island of Chios. Another 50,000 Greeks were sold as slaves and 23,000 were exiled. The atrocity inspired Eugène Delacroix to paint his masterpiece, "The Massacre of Chios," in 1824, and compelled Lord Byron to go to Greece to join the fight for liberation from Ottoman rule.
The U.S. and the rest of the civilized world shrugged when the jihad against Armenians was occurring, and did nothing to stop it. Look to the past, and see the future that Usama bin Laden envisions for Christians and Jews. Annihilation.
