China has the problem of way too many men (due in part to the one baby per couple rules). I wonder why they don’t go to the Philippines, Malaysia, etc and import willing brides for the young Chinese bachelors?
Incomes in China are lower than those in the other countries mentioned. And Chinese incomes are only a tad higher than those in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. The problem in China isn't too many males - it's too many dirt-poor males making $25 a month down on the family farm. (Middle class Chinese males have no problem finding prospects - it's the peasants in isolated villages who can't find wives. And there's a lot of isolated villages, given that almost 70% of China is agrarian). Many of them will live with and support their parents until they pass on, by which time these bachelors will be too old to get married.
FYI, middle class Chinese are the ones making $125 a month down in the big city. These incomes are still lower than in the countries you mentioned.
Because, unlike Russia, China does not have a shrinking population problem.
