Substantial quantities of Madeleine McCann's hair were found in the tyre well of the boot of her parents' hire car, it was revealed today.
Investigators are convinced so much hair was found that her body must have been stored in the vehicle, which was hired more than three weeks after she disappeared.
The dramatic new evidence adds further pressure on Kate and Gerry McCann, who may now face charges over the death of the missing four-year-old in days.
In a separate development this afternoon, the public prosecutor ruled there was sufficient evidence against the McCanns to pass on the case to a senior judge.

But Gerry McCann has reiterated his insistence that they had "nothing" to do with the disappearance of their daughter, adding he Kate were "100 per cent confident" of each other's innocence - and would prove it to the world.

Portuguese police declared the McCanns arguidos - or formal suspects - after a breakthrough in DNA tests conducted in Britain.
Police in Portugal now believe Mrs McCann killed Madeleine and her husband helped cover up the crime, hiding the body temporarily before disposing of it at least 25 days later using the hire car.
The McCanns say the claim is ludicrous and far-fetched and they fear they are being framed.

so ‘blood’ was the wrong info - the DNA is from the hair and other fluids.

More than anything- I find “large amounts of her hair” found in the spare tire compartment pretty chilling..
Maybe not exact, 100% certain ID, but any cells attached to the roots will contain DNA. Remember, it said “large amounts” of hair, so the decomposition process was well under way when that body was put in there..............
Odd beyond belief. Only God will know what truly happened to her.
This sounds pretty damming if the media can be trusted to report the truth which is questionable nowadays.
My gut felling has been innocent (so far).
If the root of the hair is intact, it can be identified through DNA.
looks like portugal police might be able to do what colorado cops never could.
I wondered about if the parents were guilty a few weeks after the girl went missing. No child in such a highly publicized case, even more so in Europe, could have been hidden without a trace for so long. I believe the police eventually came to the same suspicion.

Had they not confessed to drugging their children to keep them quiet while they were dining I might be more sceptical.
I would say the same. But I have been uneasy about the McCanns from the beginning. Kind of like when I watched Scott Petersen in the days just after Lacey disappeared.
