I slowly went from one end of The Wall to the other, videotaping all the way. I wanted those who have loved ones named on The Wall to know whether "their" panels were damaged. I also wanted the full extent of the damage to be documented.
This is Part 1, showing the damage to the east side of The Wall. It will take me several more hours to get the second video up.
Stay tuned...
Vietnam Memorial Wall (DC) Defaced Sept 7-8, 2007: Part 1
dang hit the wrong thread!
Thank you for the ping, and for taping this. To all the Vietnam Veterans and their family members, I’m sorry you had to see this. You’ve gone through enough hurt from these cowards. I’m glad they’re cleaning it up.
I agree with EaglesUpFlorida that the pic you referenced and the painting of Capitol steps were the two breaking points that got us here now.
At GoE I the Navy Memorial was one of the first sites that were mentioned that needed guarding. The others followed.
You hear more indignation now because the WALL was desecrated a week before GoE III, we are more attuned to the lefts’ vandalism in general and we are psyched up after GoE I with the numbers we can generate.
Sorry that you’ll miss GoE III. We heard that VeeRam also won’t make it. You both will be missed.

But I’ll summarize:
1) If a machine, ie the wacky weed wacker or the edger theory, was ‘leaking’, the oil would have dropped straight down. If it was a pressure leak, the spots would have been more oval in appearance. If the machine was at the top of the WALL, the oil would have either stayed on the top flat part or would have been thrown further away from the WALL base.
2) The two Memorial Statues associated with the WALL were also hit with the oily stuff.
3) The Park Police called it vandalism.
4) The oil only appears on the higher sections of the WALL as if they perp started where the WALL would shield their activities.

THE VIETNAM MEMORIAL IN ANDOVER, MASS WAS MOST CERTAINLY VANDALIZED AND DEFACED BY ANTI-WAR persons
http://www.andovertownsman.com/local/local_story_248201034.html
Many veterans in town were disappointed to learn last week that someone had vandalized the towns Vietnam Veterans Memorial, requiring the 15-month-old memorial to be sandblasted Wednesday.
The lyrics of a 1970s protest song and a reference to Iraq were scrawled on the monument in the Park. War, what is it good for, absolutely nothin, was written in red marker along with a peace sign.
Near the base of the memorial where the phrase our cause is just is etched, a vandal wrote just like in Iraq.
The markings were made with some kind of felt marker, which soaked into the stone, Burke said yesterday.

~ “The desecretion to the Lone Sailor at the Navy Memorial is what brought me to DC for GOE I. My father, father-in-law, hubby and I are all Plank Holders in the Navy Memorial. Ill be back in DC on Wednesday for GOE III.” ~
Me too ... and I’m an Air Force veteran! That and the Capital steps being spray-painted. Leaving out Friday evening and driving all night from Tennessee.
Eagles Up!
Thanks for taking the time to video this. It sickens me. How can people be this cruel. Hate is a terrible thing. The punks/juvies/and other descriptive words aren’t harsh enough to say what I feel for these people.
The Washington Times has a story today.
The U.S. Park Police are investigating suspected vandalism at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the Mall.
Volunteers and National Park Service rangers on Saturday discovered a "light, oily" substance on the memorial's wall panels and the paving stones in front of it, Bill Line, a Park Service spokesman, said yesterday.
The substance, which has not been identified, was spread over an area of about 50 to 60 feet, mostly on the paving stones, Mr. Line said.
(my note: Take a look at the video of the east side of the wall. The "leak" went virtually the entire length [*] of the wall. Video of the west side of the wall will have to wait until this evening or tomorrow. I gotta get to work!)
(snip)
The substance "could have been from a variety of different products," and it is not clear whether it was spread intentionally, said Sgt. Robert LaChance, Park Police spokesman.
"We are investigating to see if there was any criminal act or if it was an accident," Sgt. LaChance said. "We don't have any indication that it was intentional, but we are investigating to see if it's a possibility."
END
There's the story. Now, we must suspend our disbelief and accept that it's most likely an accident.
...
Dribble, dribble, dribble, along the cobblestones and the curbing, and then squirt, squirt, squirt, on the wall... running and dripping down the face of the wall... no evidence of the "accidental squirter" trying to wipe off the "unintentional application" of the oily substance.
Nope.
No indication at all, that it was intentional.
BS.
[*] The Wall is 463'-6" in length.
I shot video of the entire wall yesterday. It's taking some time to upload it to my computer and then compress it for You Tube upload...
Thanks for the ping, dhue. I saw this yesterday and watched the video. My cousins name is on line 117, towards the bottom of his panel and I was concerned, but from the video it appears they may have missed his panel. I’ll check it out when I’m there in a couple of weeks.
Thank you for taking the time to document this.
The Law needs recognize undo provocation in cases like this when somebody shoots one of these ******
Lowest circle of hell is not good enough for anyone who would do that.
