As I said in the other thread (before it got locked as a duplicate of this), I think that at this point, the main (maybe only) reason he's still invited to debates and on the news shows is to poke sticks at the loon and see if they can coax or provoke him to make even
more outrageous statements.
In other words, he's the sideshow freak at the GOP circus and the media keep tossing peanuts into his cage.

Well, taking into consideration what I’ve seen over the last week your comments don’t seem to be far off base.
I think he does more damage to his campaign each time I see him. But hey, that’s just my take on it.
