Clinton to Return $850,000 Raised by Hsu

WASHINGTON (AP) -

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign said Monday it will return $850,000 in donations raised by Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu, who is under federal investigation for violating election laws.

Clinton, D-N.Y., previously had planned only to give to charity $23,000 she received from Hsu for her presidential and senatorial campaigns and to her political action committee, HillPac.

The FBI is investigating whether Hsu paid so-called straw donors to send campaign contributions to Clinton and other candidates, a law enforcement official said Monday.

She should have to donate it to the Republican party. Giving it to charity, even a legitimate one, ingratiates her to those receiving that charity. Another reason she should not give it back to the donors is because some of them may have committed a crime when they gave their money and got reimbursed by Hsu. If you want to donate illegally, you should at least lose the money.

Oh, yeah, I think they’ve got to be running very scared, no matter how much they hope the MSM will cooperate in minimizing the blowback..... what I find to be a very hopeful sign is that neither WaPo nor the LA Times hedged by saying a “possible” sham investment scheme or even “alleged” which is the usual boilerplate. Maybe they’re both being very careless, but it does sound like they’ve both been told by fed sources that there IS such a bogus investment scheme run by Hsu and it’s being unravelled. If not, if there were not already good leads for investigators on such a money-laundering scheme, then both WaPo and the LA Times were extremely careless in their language and even may have opened themselves up to libel action.
