Astronaut Aldrin says Lisa Nowak should be admired, but not excused

Buzz Aldrin said a former astronaut charged with attempted kidnapping should be ``admired'' -- but not excused -- for her resolve in allegedly confronting a romantic rival, according to a published report.

Lisa Nowak was arrested in February after police said the married mother of three had driven nearly 1,000 miles to Orlando.

``Astronauts are not superhuman. They lead ordinary lives and have varied personalities,'' Aldrin said in comments published on Time magazine's Web site.

I think he must have had a couple too many oxygen deprived moments in space.

I love Buzz, I don’t know which video I liked better, him walking on the moon or the one where he decks the nutjob.

I think Nowak should be admired for traveling across the country at night and not getting out of her car to put in gas or go to the restroom.

Houston, we have a problem...

Mr. Aldren:

The problem is, I don’t know how far this lady would have gone if not stopped. That being the case, I simply cannot find the context for using admiration in any way related to her. She destroyed her own standing in most people’s eyes, so don’t try to blame them for their preceptions of her.

"Astronauts are not superhuman. They lead ordinary lives and have varied personalities,"

With some being more varied than others! As Bruce Dickinson noted: "Fellas, I put my pants on one leg at a time. And when I have them on, I make million-selling records!

I think we need MORE COWBELL!

If Buzz said it, I’ll believe it. He is the smartest man that ever walked on the moon.

I'm sure NASA is proud of her. ;O)

Confidential to Buzz: admire her from a distance, man!

But in a way he're describing what forgiving really means. It is not a free pass, a get-out-of-jail card; you are forgiven, we pray for your soul, but we are also sorry that you must be sequestered for everyone's safety.

How much would an autographed first edition of Men from Earth sell for on Ebay? I don't have the fancy collector's edition that someone wants $900 for, but I have the ordinary bound hardcover book with the original jacket.

``I think Nowak should be admired for traveling across the country at night and not getting out of her car to put in gas or go to the restroom. It is not excusable, but it is understandable for an achiever to fall into a trap.’’

This is an idiotic statement. Achievers get a pass to stalk and commit assault when they feel thwarted in a situation?

Did he? If so, good for Aldrin - the 77th year of life is just as valuable as the 37th, and if a face-lift makes him happy, go for it.

But the comment about admiring Nowak was just strange.
