In other news, the price of gas jumped $0.50 at the pump moments after the blast.

The Mexican authorities are lying.

They are talking about NATURAL GAS not gasoline That doesn't matter. Gasoline prices will still go up. You see, in order to be a future's trader these days you have to be afraid of your own shadow, afraid of your neighbor's shadow, afraid of the sun set, afraid of the sun rise, afraid that a huricane maybe might perhaps form somewhere, etc., etc., etc.,......

A small leftist rebel group, the Popular Revolutionary Army, set off bombs at Pemex pipelines in July. So this is the second time in two months, then. I doubt there is a need to panic over gas prices here in the US.
Crude oil and gasoline futures remained sharply lower with traders gearing themselves for Tuesday's meeting of key oil producers, which are not expected to cut production.

The truck explosion was dynamite at a mine — it didn’t sound suspicious, on first read.
Does anyone know where this pipeline explosion was this morning?

as much as this was made fun of, it could well be relatedI agree, especially since the truck blast in Northern Mexico happened SUNDAY NIGHT - not this morning.
So the timing would be about right.

If they’re trying to terrorize Mexicans, shouldn’t they target California?

Actually nat gas is pretty cheap at the moment. It will rise in synch with the start of the heating season. I'm seriously thinking of a woodburning stove that can handle coal.

From what I’ve gathered the truck blast was in Northern Mexico while the pipeline explosions occured much farther (like hundreds and hundreds of miles) south.

It will rise in synch with the start of the heating season. It's always higher in the winter heating season but even then, it doesn't look nearly as high as 2 years ago. Also, underground storage (supply) is even higher than last year's record, which should keep the price from skyrocketing.
