"Nayiscawr" Chevy 400 at Richmond this evening had the usual partiotic prelim before "Gentlemen, start your engines!", of course. A local sherrif, I believe it was, drew audible chuckles by muffing the Pledge of Allegience. Hope it was merely a Bush-ism, but it sounded like he intentionally pledged allegience to the flag of the United States of America, for which Republicans stand...?
It was the county chief of police, and in front of 112,000 race fans, he forgot the words. Probably sweated a pint in six seconds before he remembered and got through it.
I was there, at the track, hand over heart. I didn’t hear this. But I was aware of a big pause between “for which it stands” and “One Nation . . .”
We could not see what was happening, and it was hard to hear him. Who what it??
I didn’t hear it, but my first guess in such things is that of brain freeze from stage fright.
The poor guy was absolutely petrified! I could see his bounding pulse on the TV screen!! :)
I’m jealous Capt. Jack! That was one great race! My guy won, but I hated to see Jr. out of the chase. He put on one good show!
Definately. I was at a college basketball game last year when a girl forgot the words to the National Anthem. Her face turned purple, and her voice cracked, and then she put her head down and ran off toward the locker room.
Sounds good to me...Maybe we can get it changed!
I watched it on the tube. Man was that guy nervous!
