I don't think they are. They're just higher profile in the news. In this state I can name Mary Kay LeTourneau, but no men from this state, though I seem to recall there's one up on charges right now.

There’s an old saying: When a dog bites a man, that’s not news; when a man bites a dog, that’s news. Female teachers taking advantage of male pupils fall into the man-bites-dog category.
