NRA Director Says Five Rounds is Enough
JEWS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF FIREARMS OWNERSHIP ^ | September 6, 2007 | The Liberty Crew

That JPFO and the NRA have different views on "gun control" is no secret; you can read our position -- and view supporting evidence -- at http://www.jpfo.org/alert20061211.htm . You can also read an article on the NRA's recent alignment with gun-prohibitionist Carolyn McCarthy at http://www.jpfo.org/smith-nra.htm .

And now, NRA Director Joaquin Jackson has publically stated that magazine capacities should be limited to five rounds and that "assault weapons [sic] should be limited to military or police." That's right -- a director of the supposedly pro-gun NRA wants to take YOUR semi-automatic rifles away.

Don't believe us? Think it's just a rumor? View the evidence for yourself at http://www.klru.org/texasmonthlytalks/archives/movies/jackson5_44k.mov (we also have it mirrored on the JPFO site at http://www.jpfo.org/joaquin.mov ).

Already the NRA apologists are coming out of the woodwork. Anyone who points out the hypocrisy of Jackson's position are denounced as "wackos", "black helicopter paranoids," and "just trying to make a buck."

It's time to "Humiliate and Repudiate" Joaquin Jackson and the NRA. Go to http://www.jpfo.org/handbill-joaquin.jpg to see our latest handbill. Print it out and distribute it to those who still believe the NRA is working in the interest of gun owners. They are not.

If you value the truth more than betrayal and want an aggressive defense of your natural and Second Amendment rights, visit http://www.jpfo.org/member.htm to learn how you can join JPFO. We encourage you to use our "gun control" destroying books and videos ( http://shop.jpfo.org ) and get on board with us today.

Did you read Jackson’s statement? It’s posted up-thread. It’s also here...

http://www.nraila.org/News/Read/InTheNews.aspx?ID=9899

He was talking about full-auto assault rifles, not semi-autos. Of course, the MSM doesn’t want to be bothered with that minor details. They’re all machine guns, doncha know. They left that bothersome distinction out.

Sorry, but I’m not going to get my knickers in a twist over a fundraiser.

The context of the discussion was hunting. He gave no apology for what he said. He simply said he was misunderstood by everyone, and that he was really talking about class III full autos. So...

Does TX allow hunting with full auto?

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

I read it once and then twice and then once more because I was comprehending something totally different that what the other members on the thread has been saying.

It’s nice to know I’m not totally nuts.

Uh, no.

What is so special about their process that it must remain sacrosanct? When a board member doesn’t understand the right that the organization is supposed to protect, what’s the point of keeping him and creating an impression that his views are legitimate?

Why? Because a small gun group is using a years-old, MSM-edited clip to bash the NRA as part of a fundraiser?

The truth sometimes hurts. The NRA needs to be kept tough. They tend not to be,m and those wonderful smaller organizations do a great job.

So, did this fellow in your example get a contempt charge slapped on him? I'm sure the look on the DA's face was priceless, too.

I honestly don't know. I was told this story when I was about 14, and am now 56. Memory fades. I cannot even vouch for its veracity; it's purely hearsay. But it made a nice story.

Thank you. (The link above in the press release did not work, yours did).

It is not atypical of the enemedia to put the substance of a statement on the cutting room floor, using only the things which suit their bias.

In light of more evidence, so to speak, I recant my earlier post, admittedly made in haste. I'm touchy that way.

It is good that we all remind those in a position to be quoted to be more media savvy and try to make statements in such a way as to be difficult to be misquoted.

It is a pity that the squabbling between organizations apparently in agreement about our Second Amendment Rights does little to further the cause, and wastes valuable resources which could have been better utilized to the benefit of us all.

His speech was a bit blurry, but I got the definite impression that he does not care for semiautos with mags in civilian hands.

I fully agree with that. He said what he said, he didn't say a word about full-auto. He was talking to the media using the media's own language. He did what Zumbo did but wasn't caught until now. Too bad.

I'd say he has to go, and go now. Those responsible for the NRA press release defending him should also be looked at. Did they suggest the explanation or just buy it. Either one will be hard to explain.

Ha! When have they been tough? Negotiators and appeasers are not tough.

I read his response and don’t buy it. Have you watched the video? They did not leave out anything (or edit his response to the question), if he truely meant full auto firearms he should have said that. His statement in his response that he meant full auto firearms is pure BS and CYA.

Using his response, he first states that civilians should not have them and then he says 5 rounds for a full auto in civilian hands. That would be a mag change every 1/2 second (or so).

If he truely supports the 2nd, he would not have said any of that. He could have used it as an educational tool and even stated that hunters should not have to use more than 1 round but he does not support any restrictions on magazine sizes.

"He was talking about full-auto assault rifles, not semi-autos."

Sure thing! Full auto guns that almost no one has, that shoot one round and ought to be limited to 5, and are a frequent bone of contention at directors meetings. I'm waiting to get a reply from someone that knows the TX game laws, to see if they can go full suto down there in deer season.

Did you see the video or read the transcript (http://www.firearmscoalition.org/new/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=84&Itemid=29)? The discussion was not about hunting.

I agree, this guy needs to go.

I have defended the NRA many times on FreeRepublic, but not this time. We don’t need elitist former law enforcement officers with bad attitudes towards law abiding citizens on the board.

So what if I have a fully automatic assault rifle with a 100 round drum? I am as likely to commit a crime with it as I am any other gun I own. (no chance)

In the interview, when asked about my views of “assault weapons,” I was talking about true assault weapons – fully automatic firearms.

Utter BS. He clearly speaks of a 5 round limit for civilians.

As a machine gun owner, I can tell you a five round magazine would be less than worthless.

This buffoon is another Zumbo.

My brother killed a 300 lb black bear with a single shot from a .357 magnum. Exceptional circumstances - he was on the ground, having backpedaled furiously, tripped over a log, and fallen on his back, the bear standing on his hind legs over him. The round went into the bottom of the jaw and out the top of the head.

As Rick put it, it was a ohshitohshitohshit shot.

There’s 7 rounds in my mag right now. I should go over and take out 2...

Yeah right.
