One wonders if the state of New York will ever elect a Republican senator again - or, for that matter, a Republican governor (considering the damage Pataki did to the party during his term).
There will be a few Pubbie Representatives, but even they are a declining species in New York state. Before too long, it will be a "forever one-party state", like Massachusetts and Vermont.
Fearless prediction: even a nuclear terrorist attack on New York City would not awaken the residents of that state from their Democratic/socialistic slumber. Those who survived would "blame Bush and the Republicans" for policies that led up to such an attack. And the majority of New Yorkers would be of such a mind to sue for "peace with Islam" in the wake of it.
Make no mistake about it: New York, once you get above Poughkeepsie, is an astoundingly beautiful place (as is Vermont, in which I just spent the last two days). But upstate is forever bound down by the millstone of New York City and the surrounding metropolitan area, as if it were a 300 pound boy sitting on one end of the teeter-totter. How could this ever change?

This country is in big trouble, not because of Schumer, but because these are the people who would vote for a person like Schumer.
I wonder if there would be any survivors after a nuclear terrorist attack on New York City.
No argument from me. The GOP loses because they have become a bunch of tax and spend liberals and act like Demos! Then there is the total sellout to Bloomberg, the RINO who is now an “independent”. The same thing with NJ - you can’t sell out and expect to win.
I live in Central New York and it IS beautiful here. I wouldn’t live anywhere else. The seasons are great (even winter, as long as the roads are clear—smile) and I’ve been here all my life. I will die here, in the same town in which I was born, even though I moved a few miles away for much of my adult life.
