Police Break Up Anti-War Meeting in Washington (20 Reporters Cover 5 Protestors)

Mounted police charged in to break up an outdoor press conference and demonstration against the Iraq war in Washington on Thursday, arresting three people, organizers and an AFP reporter said.

"The police suppressed the press conference. In the middle of the speeches, they grabbed the podium" erected in a park in front of the White House for the small gathering, Brian Becker, national organizer of the ANSWER anti-war coalition, told AFP.

"Then, mounted police charged the media present to disperse them," Becker said.

The charge caused a peaceful crowd of some 20 journalists and four or five protestors to scatter in terror, an AFP correspondent at the event in Lafayette Square said. No one appeared to have been hurt.

Three people -- Tina Richards, the mother of a marine who did two tours of duty in Iraq; Adam Kokesh, a leader of the Iraq Veterans Against the War group; and lawyer Ian Thompson, who is an organizer for ANSWER in Los Angeles -- were arrested, Becker said.

The ANSWER coalition is trying to rally support for an anti-war demonstration in Washington that is due to take place on September 15.

Last month, the movement was threatened with a fine of at least 10,000 dollars unless it removed posters in the city announcing the September 15 march.

Washington city authorities have said the posters had to come down because they were stuck on with adhesive that did not meet city regulations.

"At our demonstration today we were showing the media that the paste we use conforms to the rules," Becker said.

Somehow, I suspect that there was more to this than a dispute over the quality of the glue.

Better believe it. It's my understanding they were putting their treasonous posters up on OTHER PEOPLES PROPERTY, as well as public property were such signs or any signs are not allowed. There was a photo, by (Mr)trooprally of one on what appeared to be a telephone company junction box.

But looking at it again, it might be the control box for the traffic light. Still off limits and subject to a fine, which they got. They are just trying distract from the "where" by referance to the "how" (soluble glue).

Notice in the still pictures how the horse is not paying any attention to the moonbats, it's listening to the rider.

That horse is pretty relaxed (note the slack reins) and standing almost square on all four feet (near hind up slightly). He's not going anywhere. He does have his head up a little, probably because of the objectionable stench in his nostrils from the unwashed hippies. But he's not "charging" or giving any signs of it.

Looks like a Morgan or a Morgan cross. All the NYC police horses used to be bay Morgans, I don't know what D.C. has.

What a joke!

The mounted patrolman showed up after the arrests had already occurred. He approached at a collected trot and swung the horse's hindquarters left and right to disperse the rabble.

It's not a "charge", it's a crowd-clearing maneuver, and it's very effective without placing anybody in danger from anything other than a bump from the horse's quarters. And the 'protesters' ought to feel right at home in close proximity to a horse's @$$ . . . .

The horse is a little more above the bit than I like to see, and not really on the aids, but he's never anywhere near out of control.

The United States Park Police advises of:

Demonstrators Arrested at Lafayette Park

On Thursday, September 06, 2007, at approximately 1:18 p.m., a United States Park Police officer approached several demonstrators who were attempting to paste a demonstration poster on a utility box near the intersection of H Street and Jackson Place. The officer was met with resistance as he attempted to stop them. Other people also interfered with the officer while he was taking enforcement action. Upon arrival of additional officers, three people were arrested. Two arrestees, a 25 year old male out of the District of Columbia and a 44 year old female out of Missouri were charged with defacing public property and the other arrestee, a 31 year old male out of California was charged with impeding an officer.

An “ Un-Named, Anonymous Caller “ had called into the Park Police an hour earlier stating that they OVER HEARD PLANS from a group of people that they had planned to cause a
disturbance at said location. (Gee?...I wonder who called ?...)

Thus ANSWER were able to ensure the POLICE would show up and thus they’d have something for their OWN Press to take pictures of.

The AREA where they were gathered is a “ NO-Public-Display “ area under any circumstances!-PERIOD! So= they couldn’t even GET a “Permit” for there if they wanted-(An easy item for anyone to find out about)

BUT.........That is WHY they said they “SUPPOSEDLY” were just “ Demostrating facts about their Poster Glue “ ( A Ficteous cover story of course-ready to be given when caught by police)

THAT is why their “Lawyer” was there; Because you ARE ALLOWED to hold a “ Public Press Conference “ Anywhere for the (Sole) Purpose of handing out “FACTS”-or a Press Report- but NOT for “Protesting” or staying in a reserved , pre-arranged, permited area where Traffic (Pedestrian or vehicle) would be stopped or disrupted.

ALL Their lawyer has to do is state AFTER The arrests is that , “..well! We were PREVENTED from informing the Police our intentions because of THEIR Gestopo-type tatcics when they arrived at our Peaceful PRESS RELEASE.

they were Setting up a Fixture/structure (Podium)knowingly where , no matter What Reasons, they are not allowed to do so on.

Ask ANSWER Why their PROTESTERS have been arrested- and on their “Peaceful Protesters ) , were found hidden in their pack packs ; BAGS of Red-Pepper and Chemical Sprays MEANT To ruin a Horses and Patrol Search Dogs Noses and sense of smell!? So Spray Paint, Drugs, Possibble explosions and fireworks-SMOKE BOMBS can NOT be seized by Police!
