In, IIRC, the sunday NYPost I saw an article on Neil Armstrong and his reticence with respect to astronaut publicty. The article talked mainly of the old Astronaut program and the small club of human moonwalkers (12 or so)BOTH comprised only of males, yet never mentioned the words ‘man’, ‘male’ or ‘men’. Ya’ gotta’ be pretty frightened of SOMETHING to do that, not to mention perfectly able to recognize it.

Think about the strength analogy. Men are, on the average, much stronger physically than women. If you need someone who can move 50 lb. bags of whatever comes in 50 lb. bags, you’re going to find more men who can do it than women. That is not an excuse not to hire a strong woman who has no trouble lifting it. IQ differences are far less than physical strength differences.

It's not an excuse for refusing to hire the woman who can do the work - but it's a pretty good idea to spend your recruitment money where the people who can do the job are easiest to find. And that is not in a female-only venue or even in a mixed-sex venue but in a men's locker room somewhere.

Wow. That’s an eye opener. I didn’t know that employers were recruiting in men’s locker rooms. I thought people were recruited on line, in newpapers, and maybe at day laborer sites for heavy lifting type jobs.

If employers are recruiting in men’s locker rooms I think I smell a discrimination suit.

I am one but I live in Massachusetts. I love the state but hate the people. Oh, and here, most of the males are every bit as feminine as the females.

I call Mass. "Sissy Nation". The women are actually more masculine then a lot of the men here. No wonder I drink a lot, LOL!

You are talking about the M-249 SAW. I was the Machine Gunner for my Infantry squad and it is still twice the weight of the M-16.

They do have the M-240 which fires 7.62 ammo.

I agree with you, it is not possible to have women serve in Infantry positions. Yes, a few COULD do it but in general it is not possible.
