Ron Paul Wins Debate but Republicans Won't Gamble on Him

Ron Paul clearly won the Republican presidential debate last night held in New Hampshire. Viewers were asked to text in their thoughts on who won the debate, Ron Paul received 34%, Giuliani 17%, all others lower. Fred Thompson who did not appear at the debate was clearly the largest loser as his pro-war stance and republican hard line talking points seem to be not what the people are looking for.

Sean Hannity, Fox News pundit, was clearly upset with the results and deliberately ridiculed Congressman Ron Paul. Although outpacing all other candidates by a 2-1 margin, it was clear that Chris Wallace and Brit Hume had tones of sarcasm when talking of Ron Paul. Giving absolutely no credence to Cong. Paul's responses, they even cut off his answer in a heated exchange between Paul and Huckabee, then declaring that Huckabee won the debate on that point.

Ron Paul demonstrated last night that he is the only Republican candidate that gives any thought to issues and his answers, all others gave stock replies and mostly followed the party line.

Well it would be no different than my feelings with the current GOP regime. I defended Bush for years, I finally woke up. Go wake yourself up here: http://www.ronpaullibrary.org

Excellent post!

It is about time that FOX’s “fairly unbalanced” approach was exposed on this forum.

If any candidate, not just Dr. Paul, were treated the way he was and his excellent results suppressed, I would be just as indignant.

What happened during this debate was an outrage.

Every debate should allocate roughly equal time and a truly balanced question selection/rotation to every single candidate, not just to the 3 ‘flavor-of-the-month’ chaps. If a poll is held, particularly one which strictly limits each vote to one per person, then the poll results should be displayed and disseminated.

You speak about honesty while lying out the other side of your mouth about what I said. Denial? You have that down pat. I’m not going to repeat my comments to you as you are either too stupid to get it, or you’ll just weave your own words into my mouth. So, we’re done. You can’t have a serious conversation with me, so that’s all folks. But, really, enjoy the loss that Ru Paul will have. I’ll throw a party in your honor.

Extremely naive. Assumes there were all these democratic America-loving angels waiting in the wings as alternatives to these alliances of convenience and we deliberately chose the devils just so you could "sigh" at us with contempt.

The angels don't exist. These are countries under heavy Islamic influence or even sharia law, an expansionist totalitarian ideology masquerading as a religion.

Stop trying to put lipstick on that pig. Your little romantic drama always turns out the same.

The Constitution says that the President is the Commander-in-Chief and leads the Military when it is called into the service of the country. The Constitution also says that the Congress has the power to declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water.

There have been hundreds of incursions. Most were made with the noblest of intentions and verified by Congressional Statute. Even so, Napoleonic, Victorian, and Edwardian period standards and motivations are still viewed with scrutiny by our modern standards. For example, our Military overthrow of Queen Liliuokalani in Hawaii, or President Polk's declaration of war against Mexico now appears to be blatant expansionism.

You can try to dance on the head of a pin if you want to, but the fact is that all of the President's actions to date in Iraq, Afghanistan and around the world have been to attend the Global War against extremist Islam and I only hope for more of the same until it squeals like a pig.

I would not vote for a person that could not prove that he or she would be totally dedicated to protecting our Western Civilization against the ominous force attempting to obliterate us. Any attempt to mollify the situation will only allow a temporary interval for radical Islam to become stronger at a time when we may not be able to resist it. They do not kill us because we are in the Middle East. They kill us because we do not read and believe in the Koran. Ron Paul is a Dhimmi clown that is gradually gaining my disdain because he should know better.

If being for the iraq war is the litmus test for being a conservative, then the GOP has already lost for good.

I have Paul Weyrich to thank for opening my eyes back in the mid to late 1990's. He had a Conservative based TV network for several years called National Empowerment Television. Of course even his name draws flames from many in the party because he too called them like he saw them. The nation lost a great Christian Conservative yesterday. He was one who stood with Pay Weyrich and Howard Phillips to bring about a radical change in the nations political direction. We need more Paul's Weyrichs, James Kennedy's, and others who have stood up to fight for founders intentions.

What a great post.

Yes, with that cute photo you’ve really distinguished yourself as a master of compelling, logical, persuasive argument. Your mature mode of debate makes a very persuasive case that Ron Paul isn’t saying anything worthwhile. (End sarcasm)

Then William F Buckley is not a conservative.

What a great post.

Thanks. James Kennedy really was one of the good guys. Not many Conservatives likely recognized the name, his involvement in conservative politics, or any of the others involved with him. They made political history of which the benefits paid off for two decades. He will be missed. The nation needs more hero's to take up the fight.

Well I'm out of here till tomorrow evening. Politics is important but family much more so :>}

Nobody over 30 I know uses Text messages. Most wouldn’t know HOW to text.

Not only not know how but refuse to do it. I have a text package on my phone but I only got it for automated messages at work.

When I found out they wanted a text response I thought, to heck with that!   I learned in the Seventies that a telephone is not God, neither is a cellphone a stenograph machine.

They can solicit my opinion the normal human way or forget about my response the American Idol way!

3,000 dead Americans and tens of thousands of dead Iraqis. Yeah, I'm slappin' my knee here.

In what way has it been a mistake? 3000 dead in 5 years? In terms of war, merely a pittance by any standard... and barely beginning to cover the civilian blood of the thousands lost on our own soil at the WTC (have you forgotten?).

"Tens of Thousands" of Iraqi deaths... An order of magnitude lower than Saddam slaughtered in a single summer in the Shiite rebellion alone.

Perhaps you are among those who would have preferred to fight this war in the jagged crags of Afghanistan- the very mountains that broke the back of the Russian army (and every other army that has ever tried to hold that ground all the way back to Alexander the Great).

Would you have better preferred a fetid jungle in Africa, or shall we just sit home and wait to greet them at our own front doors?

bullshit.

Most befitting of your conduct thus far. Thanks for proving my point. Our countrymen/women are dying while you are “LMAOAY.”

I will pray as always for the troops tonight. In the meantime, don’t think for second you have the only one at risk here. We all do.
