CNN) -- Two mayors and two state legislators are among 11 public officials arrested in New Jersey as part of a corruption investigation, the U.S. attorney's office in Trenton announced Thursday.

Passaic Mayor Samuel Rivera is among 11 officials arrested Thursday in a corruption probe.

"The defendants allegedly demanded and accepted payments ranging from $1,500 to $17,500 at any one time," the release from the U.S. attorney's office alleges. "In most cases, the defendants sought to establish and perpetuate a corrupt relationship with the cooperating witnesses to continue receiving bribes."

State Assemblymen Mims Hackett Jr. and Alfred E. Steele -- both Democrats -- and Passaic Mayor Samuel Rivera are among those arrested, the news release says

Corruption in the Garden State? How is that possible? Isn't New Jersey a Democratic Party paradise? I'm shocked! This just can't be!

Oh, wait...I get it now. This is just another political trick by those corrupt and jealous Republicans.

Yeah. And, Governor Corzine is in the news today for making a $14K cash payment to some relative of his ex-girlfriend, who was a NJ union boss.

What a joke.

From the article:

A private citizen, Louis Mister, was snatched up in the sting as well, the release states

I wonder what Mr. Mister's role in all of this was.

I recently spoke with a woman from New Jersey who claimed that she'd never vote for former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney because he was a Mormon and that Utah is 'run by the Mormons'.

Yes, don't question her logic. I didn't.

I simply responded by saying that her home state of New Jersey is run by the mob. She took extreme offense to that.

Now look what's happened.

Mr. Mister could NOT be reached for comment, as they had to make their gig playing at the Leibowitz bat mitzvah in Manalapan.

Cudos to CNN...every AP story out there neglects to describe the FACT that they are democrats. Anyone who subsribes to a newspaper that is a member of AP is a dupe.
