Jim Mills' departure from the Thompson campaign is actually even bigger than it looks. Not that Thompson couldn't function without Mills he only been in the office for a week, I understand but the aftershocks are huge.
You're seeing complaints like this, from the innermost of Thompson's inner circle, as told to Fox News:
When Thompson appears on Jay Leno tonight it will mark the campaigns complete repudiation of a new media campaign strategy and announcement plan that the original Fredheads had designed over several months and finalized in August. More resignations of key founding Fredheads are coming. Soon NONE of the people who got the buzz started in March may remain.
Thompson did Leno in June and numerous senior aides said at the time he would "never return to Hollywood to announce that's what McCain did! We won't use video, that's what Hillary did. We will let Fred be Fred. We are launching from the (Grand Ole) Opry then hitting New Hampshire and Iowa."
Now they are copying both McCain and Hilary by appearing on Leno and a video. The original Fredheads are no longer angry or frustrated; most have been fired already or given up. ~Snip~

Why even hire these people; if you aren’t going to listen to them?
Another metrosexual Giuliani mole bites the dust....tooo friggin bad....
Hirings and firings are ultimately the respnsibility of the candidate. I expect that they are fired because they are considered expendable. I predict that it will stop at the end of Thompson's 2nd term as President.
The Leno appearance isn’t even the announcement anyway, the announcement is coming via webcast at 12:01 AM (or so I’ve been told). This is to build buzz for the announcement. It’s an announcement of the announcement.
That actually wouldn’t be half bad! I’d laugh my arse off, but I don’t think it would go over too well in Beltway circles.
“Arnold the pig in Mr. Ziffles store”
it was Sam Drucker’s store.
LOL! Indeed they do- but I check out NRO every day- I rarely glance at The Weekly Standard!
Good correction, thank you.
If Romney can survive fake cops with fake badges on his team, Fred can survive this!

...More resignations of Thompson’s original core “Fred Heads” were expected in coming days...
Because it worked once before. I said a few weeks ago that the Fred Thompson campaign was following the Arnold playbook.
Well good bad or indifferent the bottom line if Fred or any other candidate for the matter can’t put together a team to run the campaign then it’s probably best that they don’t get the nomination. If you can’t organize, employe, and manage a team of this size/requirement then what can you do with the same responsiblity if you become President? Failure at the Presidential level really isn’t acceptable.
Winning to a large degree involves the team and how if functions with the many aspects regarding the candidate. That is why I don’t think any of the lesser ranked candidates have a chance at winning the nomination regardless of their so called stellar credentials..... jmo.
Thanks, for the history....which proves, the chattering class, are more wrong than right....esp. when their "shilling".
Maybe Jim Mills should be president. Hey, I don’t know if Fred or his wife is a problem, or what, but this stuff is childish. I think it comes from hiring a lot of people rather than having an inner circle you can trust and visa versa. Maybe Thompson will not do well, we’ll see.
Inescapable is that FT made a mistake hiring him; alternatively, he made a mistake firing him.
At the very least, FT cannot claim loyalty and judgement are his outstanding characteristics.
“Just have Fred drive that old truck he went to work in everyday at the Senate, park in close as possible to the White House and say Im Fred Thompson and Im running for President.”
Can’t he reword that somehow? Too many bad memories. Maybe you’re too young to remember that was Jimmy Carter’s catch phrase.
“My name is Jimmy Carter, and Im running for President.
Its been a long time since I said those words the first time, and now Ive come here after seeing our great country to accept your nomination.”
