A DePaul University professor who has drawn criticism for accusing some Jews of improperly using the legacy of the Holocaust agreed Wednesday to resign immediately ''for everybody's sake.''

University officials and political science professor Norman Finkelstein issued a joint statement announcing the resignation, which came as about a hundred protesters gathered outside the dean's office to support him.

Finkelstein was denied tenure in June after spending six years on DePaul's faculty, and his remaining class was cut by DePaul last month.

I wonder if Finkelstein is going to write a book about the labling people as racists or bigots because they criticize a minority? I doubt it.

If President Bush welcomed them as friends, boasted of their support and praised their opinions, it would.

Norman Finkelstein follows that path.

The KKK were always 100% Democrat.

As was the South once upon a time. Times change.

So why does Finkelstein enjoy being around these guys? Why does he go to all their parties?

Where is the evidence that he enjoys being around these guys and goes to all their parties?

They think Pres. Bush is controlled by the Jews.

So you think they voted for Gore and Kerry?

No, as I said, that it's dangerous to draw negative conclusions about a person based on his being supported by odious persons. I think they call it "guilt by association."

Now all you need is a verb and an object, and you'll have actually engaged in communication.

No Holocaust denial there ... and while what he says about Israel and Hezbollah is lunacy, I heard no call for jihad.

And the evidence that the klan voted overwhelmingly for Bush comes from where exactly? I suspect they voted mostly rat with the rest of the racists and bigots.

>> And I’m sure that Klansmen who voted went overwhelmingly for Bush. Does that say anything negative about Bush? <<

I’m not. The Klan was the core of the Democratic Party in the deep south. If the Democratic Party became so horrible for the Klan, I’m sure they’d quit voting or vote for some crackpot 3rd party before voting for the party of Lincoln. And there’s a big difference between chosing someone as the lesser of two evils (which is what any such Bush-voting Klansman must consider Bush), and embracing someone as your standard-bearer and hero.

Well, if you hadn’t meant to accept Allouette’s supposition, maybe you should’ve fought on those grounds, instead of the inane and patently false assertion that the KKK supported Bush.
