Is that psychobabble for schizophrenia?

Strangely enuf, one can argue that it is the precursor. The brain gets so overwhelmed with certain self-affecting and conflicting thoughts and if not ultimately worked thru, voila.

I was out one night with some old friends a while back and one of them brought a retro-lib (hey if they are gonna call us all neocons, lol) along. After a few drinks he started on how much he hated Ann Coulter and Malkin. Basically it was the whole tolerance thing, that because he thinks that Ann is intolerant he hoped that all these horrible things befall her (sexual assault, torture, murder etc) I had to get away from the guy because after a few 7 and 7’s I felt like putting his head through the pinball machine. This one was not a lol.

Other examples:

Feminism- “Women never lie about rape ever, Period”. During the whole mess with Kobe Bryant a woman told me this and I asked her why she wasn’t she calling for the arrest of a certain ex-president. She fumbled and said “well female right wing operatives are the only ones who lie about it” (lol wut?)

Winnie Mandela: Just bring her up and let the lulz roll.

Mary Francis Berry: lol, see above.

Dictators: Bring up the Chavez or the Castro, wait for the support and justifications to start. Ask the person why they have not yet moved to a great socialist utopia yet, and then repeat: This will go on for hours. lol.

Iraq. Listen to a lib tell you that Iraq was better off with Saddam in power because he brought the Iraqi people security. Listen to the same person tell you that Presisdent Bush is the hitlerevilworstevardictatorchimp because he eavesdrops on terrorists. *More fun, bring up Operation Desert Fox and say “Clinton lied and people died!!!” Listen closely as the shrieking begins. (true story, lol)

UBL: UBL is really a CIA “agent” BUT he also builds day care centers and planned parenthood for the ladies (lol, wut?)

Freedom: Freedom, we don’t have it say the libs. They will tell you that anyone who speaks out against the administration will be sent to a concentration camp. They will also tell you that they have been blogging about this problem for years now (lol, I guess our evillll! Dictator hasn’t gotten around to locking them up yet).

Richard Gere: Richard Gere speaks for the entire word, nuff said.

ROP: Bring up any recent atrocity committed by the ROP’ers and more likely than not you will hear “yes but the XTIANS are a thousand times worse” Or they will tell you that all those daily atrocites, bombings, maiming, beheadings etc etc are REALLY being done by the CIA so we can take ALL THE OILZ!!!(lol, wut?).

MSM: The MSM is ultra-right wing (I hear this one a lot)

Relativism: There is no right or wrong, evar. If somebody chucks a baby off of a roof, who are we to judge them? After all they only did it because of teh economy and teh Bush (wut?)

Teh Civil War: (this one is scary but true) A ditzy high school teacher explained to me once that the civil war was fought because “right-wing Republicans wanted to keep their slaves and the Democrats “passionatly” opposed slavery. So the Democrats “invaded” to free the slaves. I really wish I was making that up. This person is standing in front of a classroom as I type this (lol, wut?).

Lolz. More later.

I created the following card, after hearing the quote on it uttered by a bonehead liberal I know.

It's an actual quote from an actual liberal idiot. I found it inspiring.

Source of the definition of Cognitive dissonance

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_dissonance

It is something all of us use every day, esp. here on FR. Most people are able to work thru the conflict(s).

“The theory of cognitive dissonance states that contradicting cognitions serve as a driving force that compels the mind to acquire or invent new thoughts or beliefs, or to modify existing beliefs, so as to reduce the amount of dissonance (conflict) between cognitions. Experiments have attempted to quantify this hypothetical drive. Some of these have examined how beliefs often change to match behavior when beliefs and behavior are in conflict.”

One of the ways they reduce that conflict is through psychiatric projection. Claim your opponent (in this case conservatives) are doing exactly what you are doing (modify conflict). Good example would be “Bush stole the election” when in reality Gore should have won through massive voter fraud and still failed. Another example: from Hillary referring to 911, “what did Bush know and when did he know it?” which is her personal reaction to Bill’s 9 offerings of Bin Laden and Jamie Gorelick’s wall between CIA and FBI.
A simple example of modify conflict: “I voted for the war before I voted against it”

Your commments remind me of my liberal sister. Recently when Obama said we should bring the troops home from Iraq and then send them to Afghanistan to fight Al Qaeda... I questioned her on this, saying Al Qaeda IS in Iraq (as is my son, Cpl Conservative Midwestern boy!)... She said, well at least no one has lied about WMD to get us into Afganistan. When I tried to push for further discussions about Obama’s developing foreign policy rhetoric, she said, “I just don’t have time to explain this to you now in a way that you would be able to understand...”

It is comical but annoying.

GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS

No, it’s psychobabble for rationalizing, excuse making and narcissism.

Schizophenics are physically ill with chemical imbalances that affect the brains ability to think, organize and plan.

Libtards just invent mental fantasies to explain why they are losers, why they should weild power and why women should want them instead of wanting real men.

Good one.

It reminds me of the saying “Enough already with giving peace a chance. We tried that and it didn’t work. Let’s give war a chance.”

Spend some time just listening to your liberal friends.

I listened to one today. He said that a one-world government would eradicate terrorism. "Terrorism is fueled by nationalism, so if you erase the borders....blah blah blah." He believes that Islamic terrorism is caused by nationalism, not religion! < :O

No offense, but the comments in post #27 epitomize use of cognitive dissonance.

Most people utilize cognitive dissoance by simply ignoring the conflicting information. In this case, I have chosen not to. CG is like most everything else, it can be “used” to try and appear superior to others, thus protecting one’s self esteem which is the sum total of one’s self beliefs.

I had one in my office whining over the price of gas and ranting about “big oil”. Pointing to her cup of Starbucks, I asked why she happily pays $6.00 a gallon for coffee and why she had no prooblem with “big coffee”. She stared at her cup, then stuttered and stammered a bit, then changed the subject.

As for my comments epitomizing cognitive dissonance, well duh! CG is a ten dollar term for two bit deficiencies in character (which has nothing to do with schizophrenia).

Some people, rather than deny reality or new information actually change their behavior in response to incoming data. In economics this is called the invisible hand of Adam Smith.

A rational response to increased gas prices is to increase supply by new exploration and development and building additional refinery capacity. Or even *gasp* reduce costs by reducing taxes, bureaucratic regulation, red tape and other impediments to increased production.

A CG response is to rant about war for oil and taxing “obscene” profits of energy companies. Liberals excel at rationalizations (lies) intended to smooth CG because their motivation is not to solve problems but perpetuate them in order to maintain access to power, wealth and women.

10. Population. The world has far too many people, and (hint, hint) it would be a lot better if a lot of them died or were never born.

This has been cited by some leftists as a side benefit of banning DDT. It rids the world of millions of unneeded (dark-skinned) people every year.

Liberals Say The Stupidest Things (Have Fun Listening To Your Lib Friends Alert)

Here's a good one: My boss was ridiculing the Bush administration promoting sexual abstinence programs but at the same time saying that kids should be taught never to smoke or take drugs.

He also says that people should have to have a license to become a parent.

This is a Ph.D. who thinks well of Obama. I had a great time asking him if he heard about Bush referring to the leader of Canada as the president of Canada. He rolled his eyes in a "just like Bush to do something stupid like that." Then I told him, "Nope, it was Barack who did that." Later I referred to the Pew study about which segment of the mass media-attuned population was the best informed. He said, "Liberals?" I said, "No, according to the Pew foundation, the best informed group of people were those who tuned in to Rush Limbaugh." Ha ha ha. It was great.

I'm not sure what a coffee at Starbucks costs, as I feel its way over rated even more than its over priced. But if a 12 ounce coffee were to cost $3, then a gallon of coffee would cost about $32.

Big difference between $6 a gallon an $32 a gallon.

An even bigger difference between $3 a gallon for gas, and $32 a gallon for coffee.

What you need to mention is that oil companies make about 8-11% profit on gas, while the government in all its taxes makes about 3x that much on a gallon of gas.

Whats the profit margin on coffee?

Reminds me of the liberal crap, two sides to a story. As we see it, truth and spin, as they see it. Their ideas are superior to truth or reality.
