So what? Everyone knows the Air Force has nuke bombs. Everyone knows that they put them in their bombers. Everyone knows that they must be transported from one place to another somehow.
This is a non-story.

Everyone knows that they must be transported from one place to another somehow.According to the article, only the missile part was supposed to be loaded onto the B-52. The nuclear part was supposed to stay behind.

This isn't a non-story. I'm Army, not Air Force, but I'm certain that if you are loading munitions on an aircraft, it's going to be be double-checked. And if you are loading nuclear weapons, not just one - but five, I mean - it's nuclear weapons. I would be surprised if you don't need printed out authorization from high-ranking officers. I have to go to my unit commander to get tuition assistance for taking college courses. Now consider nuclear weapons! If you are going to get the nukes from the armory (or what it is that the Air Force calls it), they are going to need proof of authorization to release the nukes, I am certain.
Either the Air Force displayed incompetence here, or perhaps more likely, nukes were transported intentionally, and someone leaked it to the media. Iran comes to mind.
I am sure dozens of people are involved in loaded nukes onto a B-52. It's not a mistake, it would be incompetence and negligence. Loading the wrong ammunition for your machine gun is one thing; loading nukes is quite another.
