WASHINGTON - The chairman of the Senate Budget Committee said today he will vote against the nomination of Jim Nussle of Iowa as White House budget chief.

Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., voted in favor of the nomination in committee "to move the process forward." Conrad said he would oppose the Nussle nomination on the Senate floor Tuesday to protest the fiscal policies of President Bush.

"I do not make this decision lightly," Conrad said. "This is not a vote against Mr. Nussle personally. But I refuse to have my vote for Mr. Nussle portrayed as a sign of support for the president's failed fiscal policy."

oppose the Nussle nomination on the Senate floor Tuesday to protest the fiscal policies of President Bush.

According to that philosophy no nominees could ever be approved when the president and at least one party of congress are controlled by different political parties.

This is the reason Washington decided the party spirit would injure America.

CORRECTION: According to that philosophy no nominees could ever be approved when the president and Senate are controlled by different political parties.

This is the reason Washington decided the party spirit would injure America.

House Budget cmte. chair flipping on a White House appointee for political purposes...

In this case, more like "flipping OFF".

Dems kneejerk oppose anything Bush does as he is not a Dem.
Repubs lack enthusiams for much of what Bush does as he is not a Repub.

Hard to get anything done when you piss off everyone.

Especially when you hand the congress to your opponents

I knew compassionate conservatism was bad news when it came out in the 2000 primaries but didn't think it would get this bad

I don’t disagree about breaking news.

I do think the President should get whatever advisers he wants.

But if a senator opposes someone who is not unqualified this is the fair way to do it. Get them out of committee so they get an up or down vote by the whole Senate.

A lot of Democratic Senators give me the creeps.
Schumer, Kennedy, Boxer, Feinstein, Levin, Obama, Clinton, etc.

The most dangerous place in the world is between Conrad and a silly chart (sort of like another dangerous place, between Schumer and a camera), LOL!

Conrad should go back to his main business: taking dirty lobbying andf PAC money to keep his bought-and-paid-for Senate seat. He sure doesn’t represent the people of ND. Did you see his vote on the shamnesty bill?

I’ll always remember Conrad’s enthusiastic approval for Tiny Tommy’s trial balloon to run for Prez, hahahaha!
