ASHLAND, N.H., Sept. 3 -- Former senator Fred Thompson of Tennessee will grab most of the headlines this week as he enters the race for the White House, but Mitt Romney likes where he stands in the contest for the Republican nomination.
"When I started running seven months ago, I was at 5 percent in the national polls," the former Massachusetts governor said at a question-and-answer session here. "Now I won the Iowa straw poll; I'm ahead here in New Hampshire, ahead in Michigan, ahead in the Nevada."
The energetic Romney, who is shown jogging in a television ad that his campaign is running in the Granite State, put his energetic approach to work on Labor Day: two speeches, two town hall meetings, a parade and a breakfast stop to greet voters at a restaurant in Moultonborough. His exertions required several outfit changes, from tie but no jacket to jacket and tie and then, before the parade in 80-degree heat, khakis and a polo shirt. But Romney's manner never changed; whether describing his appreciation of the symbolic importance of the American flag or talking about issues such as illegal immigration, the ex-governor almost never stopped smiling.

I added no key words.
The video of Mitt (and multiple more videos of him taking similiar liberal positions -— for YEARS) is damning.
Mitt Romney is a liberal. That’s fine. It doesn’t make him a bad guy. Just don’t lie about it.
I had an open mind about Mitt because I only know he was elected as a Republican in the most liberal state in the union.
Now, I see how. ..yes, people do change.
...but it its always around election time.
I'm off the Mitt wagon and onto the Duncan Hunter wagon.
Or wishful thinking from a leftwing pub. Romney is doing well in 4 or 5 states. It's the other 45 where his problem is going to be.
Fred cutting and running from the debate only deepens my suspicion that his is just a good reader of lines written by others, an empty suit.
But then perhaps he is going on Leno to say he isn’t running. It would be funny to see how some people would react to that.

No, no, no. Romney is the empty suit. Fred is folksy and lazy. Get it right, will ya?
When’s Fred going to announce?
“On the national scene, 44% say they will vote against Romney no matter who is on the ballot in 2008. Thats a point higher than the number who will vote against Clinton.”

Oh, and it gets much worse for poor Mitt...
“The most recent example of this is the straw poll held in Ames, Iowa a couple of weeks ago. Despite the fact that leading prospects such as Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson, and John McCain did not participate, the press coverage hailed the event as being terribly significant. The big winner, of course, was Mitt Romney. Second place went to Mike Huckabee who hoped the strong showing would vault him into the top tier of candidates.
Both Romney and Huckabee received a minor bounce in the polls for a few days. But, two weeks later, the national polls show that the Iowa event had virtually no impact. Romney remains mired in third place barely ahead of John McCain. Huckabees support continues to be measured in the mid-single digits.
Its not really that the press got the coverage wrong. Romney did what he had to do in Iowa and did it well. Huckabee did exceed expectations, apparently on the strength of a well-received speech. What the reporters got wrong was a sense of context and scale. Despite the enormous coverage, less than half the nations voters even knew that Romney was the winner. It is fair to assume that a much smaller number attached any particular significance to it.
The same lack of context has been seen in coverage of the many campaign debates this season. Reporters comment on the words, the style, the comebacks and everything else about the debates except the lack of public interest. Ratings have been down and most voters say the events are boring. “

Mitt is wasting his time and money IMHO.
IF, it can destroy Fred, it can destroy Mitt.
The thing that is so incredibly stupid about attacking Mitt Romney is the fact that if Fred Thompson stays in the race until the end, the ticket will more than likely consist of Thompson and Romney.
That scares me. Hillary! is a true believer. The press is not going to ask her any hard questions. Her files as First Lady are sealed until after the 2008 election (she generated about 698 pages of documents a day for 8 years. As first lady.) Also, if the House and the Senate remain in Democrat hands, look for laws to change, such as election laws that will favor the dems and FCC laws that will squelch conservative radio.
On Wednesday night, 9/5/07, he'll be appearing on Jay Leno.
Heck, I can destroy Mitt Romney. Who do you think dug up that video? It’s going wild across the net right now. I just got it e-mailed to me.
Hillary would do far worse. Heck, that old drunk Ted Kennedy shredded Romney.
The video clips of Romney’s multiple positions to get elected are easily obtained and will, thankfully, save America from Romney, a.k.a. Clinton-light.
They'll be along soon when they get bored with pushing little old ladies into oncoming traffic.

Good photo—Mitt looks really life-like.
