One wonders if Owen was on anti-depressaants before suicide attempt. Not funny.

I heard it was a combinatino of alcohol and coke, but who knows?
Yeah, must have been those anti-depressants. Probaby not the multitude of drugs and alcohol he was shoving into his body.
Oh; and that fact that he suffers from DEPRESSION!
Considering that tens of millions of people in the USA take or have taken anti-depressants, and that many (not all) of them can be in rather severe psychological crisis before they even get to the point of having a prescription for an anti-depressant, such brief ANECDOTAL lists mean nothing scientifically. Also, there is often (not always) a lot of drug and/or alcohol abuse that can accompany serious depression, so attributing causation to an anti-depressant is very speculative at best.
I speak from having witnessed some very serious depression among both family and friends which can be helped only by medication. The biggest is problem is that it is still very hit-or-miss to know which medication will work for which individual. There is much variation in individual brains and physiology, and what helps one person may not help another, and vice-versa.
p.s. Is there any reason to believe that Owen Wilson’s problems are not centered upon reported long-time serious drug abuse and addiction involving heroin and cocaine? I do believe that many people who resort to illegal drugs may be trying to self-medicate against the desperation of serious depression, but if someone has been known to be abusing heroin and cocaine over many years then it is hardly reasonable to jump to unsubstantiated speculations that anti-depressants are responsible for his problems.
