Its all in the marketing.. They saw Rudy on 9/11 on top of the rubble and they associate him with the leadership during the event.

I’m with you, I will vote for Rudy only if he wins the nomination, but not in the primaries. The only ‘R’ I would not vote for in any event is Ron Paul, but he stands about as much of a chance as a bottle of Jack Daniels going undrunk in Teddy Kennedy’s car.

His personal life shows a pattern of terrible choices, untrustworthiness, impulsiveness, and a lack of commitment.

Not desirable traits for a President.

And the gun grabbing’s a deal breaker, too.

Giuliani will take the ship down.

Any social conservative who supports Rudy is a phony.

A lot of this is still pure name recognition. We’ve haven’t seen organized resistance by the Religious Right or the gun lobby. They’re holding their fire for now. I think they’re hoping the base will reject him without them attacking him. But I have no doubt they have ad campaigns and a series of hit pieces ready to roll as the primaries get near.

"Wait... Thompson's announcing on Thursday?!...
Anything we can dig up on him?!?"

(Given the picture in the article, I had to...)

Remember... you can't spell "Rudolph Giuliani" without RINO.

NYC reporters tying to protect their NYC candidate.

This is about as credible as the upcomming recycled, husband is a republican wife is a democrat election stories.

Perhaps we need a thread of recycled stories.

Republicans are running too many Senators. Senators are compromisers for big government. We need some conservative governors but we just don’t have any. I’ll never vote for Rudy no matter what.

[Roody Doody] is receiving a surprising level
of support from social and religious conservatives.

Or, as my dad puts it, it is better to have incremental victories than devastating defeats.

That's the argument that was used with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Unfortunately we are now far, far more worse off than we would have been had the 1) the Recall had failed or 2) Bustamante had won.

In all three cases the result is an extreme liberal as Governor. In the case of Arnold he is an extreme liberal as titular head of the GOP. He has destroyed our party from within. Meanwhile when he goes around spewing his idiotic Earth-worship religion, the press cite "Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger."

So called "strategic" voting does not work. There are too many variables, and too many unknowns. Vote for the person whose views reflect yours -- period.

Well, yeah, but in his response to 9-11 and his anti-crime actions in NYC he showed level-headedness as well as other good traits. He just doesn’t understand the Bill of Rights and the Second Amendment.

“Rudy ranks high on the issue of leadership in the WOT”

I keep hearing this, but frankly don’t understand why people feel this way.

What has he said or done that indicates he would be a good leader in the WOT?

I’d really like to know what leads people to believe he’d be any better or worse than other candidates.

And in other news, the Post says the chocolate ration will be raised to 28gm per week!

I will not vote for Rudy Giuliani.

Rudy Giuliani is “leading” the GOP pack with 25%-35% of the voters. Anyone who can barely muster the support of one-third of his own party’s voters is going to have his @ss handed to him in the general election.

Washington, D.C. is not New York City. Nobody in the Beltway is going to answer to some lisping, effeminate freak from New York City.

What is most likely to happen here is that a left-wing Congress will look to this lisping, effeminate little freak from New York City and find a perfect partner for implementing a radical leftist agenda in this country.

Frankly,

I know a lot of folks here may not want to hear it, but Rudy’s got the support because frankly he’s the best candidate... Mitts crashing and buring, no one takes McCain seriously, Thompson is nothing more than a great white hope.... more projection than anything else.

Do his views on issues clash with the hard right? Yep, on aome issues they do... but whenever you see the entire field and look at them, he’s the only one who stands out. Thompson looks presidential, in terms of appearance, but he sounds like a hedgebetter whenever he has to actually face questions.. he’s good at spouting rhetoric to friendly crowds, but crashed and burned over a simple question about whether or not he advocated for abortion rights.

I would not sit here and say Rudy is the most exciting candidate I’ve ever seen, but of the lot of R’s out there today that have any shot of winning, he’s head and shoulders above the competition. Unless someone else steps up, or a new player shows up, its his to lose.

You never know with politics, but that’s how it looks today.
