MOSCOW Twelve Russian strategic bombers will take part in an Arctic exercise on Monday and Tuesday including tactical launches of cruise missiles, an air force spokesman said.
He did not specify where the exercise was taking place but said TU-95MC bombers would take off from five air bases stretching from the Volga River city of Engels to Anadyr on the Chukotka Peninsula overlooking Alaska.
The planes will also practise mid-air refuelling from Il-78 transport planes, the spokesman said.

Russia would choke on their lunch if we routinely scrambled B-2s to go on excursions up close to the artic...etc...
This grandstanding krap is for their daily PRAVDA...

Chukotka Peninsula overlooking Alaska.
Don't suppose they could mean Kamchatka Peninsula do you? Thought the Lame stream media was bad here...

No, I think the media were correct for a change.
The location of Anadyr, mentioned in the article and the capital of the Chukchi Autonomous Okrug, is shown with a star on the map you just posted, and is clearly not on Kamchatka.
Google "Chukotka Peninsula" for more than you would ever want to know about wildlife, fish and whales (and the Bering Sea land bridge).
To: logician2u
Woops! So solly, please - Anadyr has only a dot on the map, not a star.
(But then a capital city of just 11,000 people is deserving of no more that a dot on the map, wouldn't you agree?)

if we routinely scrambled B-2s Since the B-2 fleet has a mission capable rate of about 40% and requires ~80 MMH/FH that isn't a realistic scenario.

Wonder how long and how much effort it took to get ready

Are you absolutely positive about that mission capable rate, Mr. Gates?

Is that a fishing comment?

It’s a statement of fact.

Readiness rate has hovered between 35 and 40%. Once, just once, the zoomies achieved a 50% rate but that was short lived. I’m being extremely generous in giving them credit for achieving 40% consistently.

You should have the mods delete that bandwidth hog you posted.
