The flag is unimportant - what would be more telling would be transcripts of the speech he gave and of prior speeches he's given.

My bet is that he fully supports what that hamas flag stands for, whether he was aware it was there that day or not.

Agreed, that’s why I didn’t understand using the photo as the centerpiece of their argument. Kind of weak and I’m surethere is much juicier stuff out there on this guy.
