To: Niteflyr

Well, it is hard to look at Central and South America and come away with a view that is much different than yours. There are some bright spots, but nothing like north of the Rio Grande.

If people choose to live a simpler lifestyle, I can understand. I don’t quite understand the desire to live in huts. I guess nobody really does want to, but the ability for them to advance sure seems stunted down there.

I’ll admit to not really understanding why more of those nations haven’t done better.

IMHO it is mainly because they keep pointing the finger at the west/US...and not accepting the fact that THEY are responsible for their own situation and problems....nothing will ever change until you first accept the truth...

Lack of rule of law. Lack of respect for private property. Kleptocratic governments/elites.

There of course are many other factors, but those are the biggies, again and again and again.
