At the end of WWII, Canada’s navy was third largest on the planet.

Now while it is a pale ghost of its former self, it is still staffed by extremely well trained and skilled fighters who are quite often key players in US aircraft carrier operations as screening and anti-air platforms.

Ask any US sailor who has deployed with Cdn warriors how our personnel and abilities stack up.

Or would you rather dig yourself deeper?

Holy cow! Your navy is worse off than I had thought. No new ships since 1999!?!?!? Front line destroyers all of 1970s vintage?!?!?!

There, but for the Grace of God ...

That's exactly what Hillary Obama Edwards would like to do the the United States Navy.

At the end of WWII, Canada’s navy was third largest on the planet.

And now it is a small coastal defense force.

it is still staffed by extremely well trained and skilled fighters

And where did I suggest that the sailors weren't well qualified. Since you can't address me on the merits, you have to make up things to argue against.

Or would you rather dig yourself deeper?

You are the one that seems to be shoveling something. If you have any facts to refute my points, produce them. On the other hand, if you are trying to suggest that Canada's navy is adequate to defend its own shorelines, much less project, I'll laugh at you.

Canada probably ranks slightly behind the Netherlands in naval strength, Slightly ahead of Norway and Pakistan. Perhaps the equal of Thailand.

And you are still intellectually challenged. Perhaps Canada needed a ‘No Child Left Behind’ program when you were in school.

Listen you mealy mouthed nitwit, clowns like you wonder why the U.S. gets a world wide bad rap while with your next breath you badmouth and denigrate your closest and best friend and ally with meaningless and poorly researched B.S.

Canada is pulling her weight in this war on terror and is bringing her fair share of young men and women home in bodybags, some the victims of U.S.forces friendly fire I might add, so why don’t you just STFU.

No thanks. And I continue to suggest that you invest in a course in reading comprehension. You were badly shortchanged in your education.

Here is the thing. I've noticed many Canadian FReepers seem to get upset when an American makes a fair criticism of the way Canada has allowed it's military to whither away to the anemic state that it is currently in. No one is challenging the bravery or quality of Canadian soldiers/sailors! Quite frankly I'm tired of the snide, underhanded remarks coming from Canadians about US friendly fire. Did you ever stop to think that perhaps the reason Americans are involved in what seems a disproportionate number of these incidents are because we are the ones providing 98.9999% of the close air support missions over there? I wonder how many Canadian soldiers have had their bacon saved by those "trigger happy" Americans? No way to quantify that one huh? Perhaps you Canadians should direct your anger at your own govt. for allowing your military to get in a state where you have to hitch rides on second hand Russian cargo planes, and are unable to provide your own close air support eh?

You are a pompous hypocrite. You unreservedly offer your opinion on the current state of the Canadian Military with great authority yet discount my critical comment as snide and underhanded. Well, quite frankly, I am just as tired of the uninformed horseshit some of you bozo’s peddle on these threads as well. You like to dish it out but can’t take it.

Canadian’s have always stood up to be counted when confronted with tyrants, often without state of the art weaponry, but we stood up anyway and took out lumps. sometimes while America sat on it’s ass. ( another snide and underhanded comment that will surely piss you off)

There’s the Canadian chest thumping that I know and love! Oh well I guess the US should just go back to sitting on its ass. It’s what we’re known for eh?
