One of the biggest problems facing just about all developing countries, including the U.S., is the comming demographic decline that will result in too few workers supporting too few retirees. An immigration surge is one answer, provided it is accompanied by welfare reform.

The difference is that China and India have always had relatively huge populations - and are just now starting to educate them, create numerous universities, educate the majority of their students in engineering and hard sciences, and expand economically. We, on the other hand, are importing poverty and uneducated peasants who will always be taking our tax dollars. China and India will prosper while we will be in decline. We're importing more stupidity, while we're already creating enough of it in our schools.
