I have said the same thing, but there is a lot that can happen between today and election day. We all have our private opinions about the candidates and many of those opinions are based upon facts not in evidence.

With the election being over a year away, it's hard to say how things will play out for the Republicans. We, the conservative base, want someone who we can support wholeheartedly and FDT appears to have qualities we long for and that we've not seen for a long time. Only time will tell if FDT lives up to those appearances or if our support should be with someone else. Right now? It's just too early to tell.

Unless Fred Thompson stumbles . . . then the next president of the United States will be Hillary Clinton, Rudy Guilianni, Mitt Romney or the longest shot Barrack Obama. This means that you put all your eggs in one basket if you don’t build up Duncan Hunter.

Not gonna happen, and for two reasons:

1. Actual debates and appearances will reveal him as the poor public speaker that he is. There's just no executive energy there.

2.His health will ultimately stop him from pursuing any kind of sustained campaigning. He looks like a corpse already; what do you think 8-9 months on the road will do?

But is he conservative? His votes in the Senate have been all over the map, so there's no way of telling if he'll be stabbing us in the back, like Bush. I need more information, much more. And not just campaign rhetoric.
