A blow to convention business?
The Kansas City Star ^ | 9/1/07

The leader of the National Council of La Raza said Friday that the organization is working with Kansas City officials to try to keep the 2009 convention in the city. That’s welcome news.

Unless cool heads prevail, Kansas City could lose a valuable national convention.

That possibility was raised this week because of continuing concerns about Frances Semler’s appointment to the city’s park board.

National Council of La Raza

National Council of The Race.

Time for the US media to quit stating the name of this organization in Spanglish so as to whitewash (so to speak) the true name and spirit of this organization.

I would consider keeping an organization that is against keeping our national borders secure from convening in my city a badge of honor.

LaRaza needs to spend it's time and money down in Mexico, trying to clean up the political corruption and do something about the abject poverty down there.

The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) – the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States – works to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans. Through its network of nearly 300 affiliated community-based organizations (CBOs), NCLR reaches millions of Hispanics each year in 41 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. To achieve its mission, NCLR conducts applied research, policy analysis, and advocacy, providing a Latino perspective in five key areas – assets/investments, civil rights/immigration, education, employment and economic status, and health. In addition, it provides capacity-building assistance to its Affiliates who work at the state and local level to advance opportunities for individuals and families.

Founded in 1968, NCLR is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan, tax-exempt organization headquartered in Washington, DC. NCLR serves all Hispanic subgroups in all regions of the country and has operations in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix, Sacramento, San Antonio, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Ahh, what would we do without the self appointed posting police. I personally want to think lobbyist for posting this. This is an entirely different article than the one losted yesterday(I searched and found the original). Besides that, the rules for FR say that after 24 hours an article can be posted again. There are those of us who can't be on the net 24 hours a day and miss some things. It is nice to have them posted again so we can read them.

My advice to you is to let the admin worry about posting violations and stay off threads that you have already read if it bothers you so much.

Can the Admin fix this situation by adding K.C. Star Editorial Board?

Perhaps they could replace the La Raza convention with the KKK, the NAACP or the Aryan nation convention. Just a suggestion.

Good point. It's much like the MSM, when translating a terrorist video, will usually use the word "God" when referring to the Muslim's Allah.

Typical MSM, like using the word "choice" when they mean abortion. Deliberate clouding of the issue.

Oh, yes, and islam is the religion of peace. The race is so intolerant that they can't abide a person who is against open borders for illegal aliens being appointed to a city council they want to have a convention in. If your leaders were doing their jobs the race and cair would both be disbanded and barred from our country.

As far as I am concerned they can stay the he** out of ALL of our cities. KC should feel luck this happened. This group is so arrogant they think they have the right to dictate who is part of a cities government. If KC caves into this they should have their collective butts kicked. This is clearly a test, just as muslims test us by being offended about everything, to see if they can actually get KC to fire this guy.

Mayor’s Office
414 E. 12th St., 29th floor
Kansas City, MO 64106
(816) 513-3400
(816) 513-3518

Mayor Mark Funkhouser

You can offer the mayor a word of support as he faces this economic blackmail. Don’t forget, 80% of the population does NOT support Amnesty/Shamnesty, as evidenced recently. La Raza, funded by taxpayers, thinks they are above the law.

They could replace the La Raza (the superior race?) convention with the NRA, the Minutemen, the We the People convention, etc. Economic blackmail is a tried-and-true approach by LOSERS — see Jesse Jackson et al. No one ever has to bend to it.

You cite organizations that have the welfare of the nation at heart, not one that intends to divide it. Incidentally, I am an NRA member of longstanding. Jesse is another member of the racebaiter organizations from the list I cited.
