We need to halt this trash talk by donating to Fred.

How about he just runs, and state what he means?

"Security, Unity, Prosperity" Who are we supposed to unify with? The Left? The Truthers? Not in my case, no stinking way. Should the left suddenly become patriotic, contrite and conciliatory they can still go to hell. No forgiving, no forgetting.

His advisers are convinced the press will unleash a blizzard of skeptical and hostile coverage to punish him for taking a nontraditional route to his candidacy. His advisors are kidding themselves if they attribute the inevitable negative press to the nature of his campaign.
The press has only one true motive for trashing him. He's a Republican.

I really don’t understand the gripe about Mr. Thompson’s timing and announcements and all that. He is not late, when you look at the history of political campaigns. Just because others jumped in early doesn’t men Fred Thompson is late.
I don’t know just how much I like Thompson and just how much I don’t like him (I mean for the office, not personally). He wouldn’t select me as a personal adviser anyway. But all this stuff about his TIMING is ridiculous.

What happened to the Sept. 4 announcement? That he now will have a spokesman from his campaign announce Sept. 6, the day AFTER the next Republican debate, after he wrote a letter asking to be included leaves a question or two out hanging out there. Did they turn him down, or did he decide not to put himself to the trouble?

I sincerely believe Fred Thompson would lose a general election against the democrats. Of course, I could be wrong and Mr. Thompson could enter the race firing on all eight cylinders and demonstrate he has energy, depth of character, command of the issues, sense of purpose, sound judgment, organizational skills and most important, a vision for America that would bring us back to conservative, constitutional governance.
So far, he has shown none of it.

I believe no one should donate a penny more until the moment of his actual announcement. Then, lay it on fat and thick.
That’s my plan.

Thing is, there's pent up demand for a real reagan conservative. There's also a great deal of fear in the RNC that one might be nominated. Hence the continuous peddling of less as more.

The excuse was that donors were staying on the sidelines till he made it official.Which is precisely what many, many people are doing. In fact, Fred's "testing the waters" campaign has dried up donations to the other candidates.

The American voter has become so fickle that minds can change on a moments notice.
Fred has time but it will be nice to see him officially in the race.

According to the author, it seems political campaigns are now almost entirely about fundraising and financial reports.
Whatever happened to ideas, agenda, character and leadership?

FDT has to put up or shut up in a few days. My money is on Fred to stomp on the competition. He’ll get a donation from me when he declares to help him do just that.

...once the American people truly get to know Fred Thompson, they will be quite impressed with his life story and his intellect and his passion, and his seriousness for solving some of the big problems.Fred's life story.
There is nothing particulary compelling about Fred's life story.
Intellect.
Fred is certainly intelligent, but he towers over the other candidates in height, not intellect.
Passion
Fred's strength is being folksy, and his gravitas, not passion.
Seriousness for solving some of the big problems...
Fred's big problem right now is lack of fundraising and organization. It is difficult to conceive Fred as a serious problem solver, when he hasn't begun to solve his campaign's problems.
