Medical student sues S.F. officers in stun-gun case

A San Francisco police officer who has been the target of several complaints from people who say he used excessive force was among five law enforcement officers sued Thursday by a medical student, who says he was told to "stop acting like such a girl" and zapped with a stun gun during a North Beach sweep.

Mehrdad Alemozaffar, 27, who is to begin a medical residency at Harvard University this fall, said Officer Jesse Serna was among the police officers and sheriff's deputies who tackled him to the ground near Broadway and Montgomery Street at about 2 a.m. Dec. 17.

The incident happened after officers trying to get Alemozaffar and two friends to leave the area pushed them in the back, the federal civil-rights suit said. When Alemozaffar complained, Serna replied, "Stop acting like such a girl," the suit said.

When Alemozaffar asked Serna why he had said that, Serna chuckled and replied, "I am calling you a girl because you are acting like one," the suit said.

Alemozaffar was handcuffed and placed facedown on the street. Then sheriff's Deputy J. Reymundo shocked him at least 10 times with a Taser, the suit said. . . .

Come on. What goes on down there isn’t relevant to tasing somebody. Tasing someone is an alternative to shooting them. Was the guy a threat deserving to be shot, or tased?

Stating it more technically, non-leathal force is the alternative to leathal force.

Mincing was involved and a good old fashioned tasering is just what the doctor ordered.

The cops in SF are some of the worst thugs I've ever seen in uniform. You won't find guys like that in most of the other western states where they actually have hiring standards.

The Iranian didn't do anything to merit being tased like that.

Technically it's 'less than lethal'. Tasers can and have killed people.

That being said, North Beach is quite interesting. Best time is evenings during the week, but the weekends are quite interesting too. Lots of good restaurants

Mostly teen-looking-dressing girls and guys frequenting the disco/Ecstasy type clubs, girls shivering waiting in line and when they hit the streets at 2 AM

That's probably when this incident happened, the cops have the streets lined with Police Cars and a Paddy wagon or so, and they are continuously keeping people moving to clear out the area.

Yea, strip clubs in the area too, along with clubs playing blues and jazz.

Actually I did read the entire story. If you did read the entire article you will note that there was no denial that the cop in question tazered the guy while handcuffed and on the ground face down. Please note that although the Sheriff said there were only 3 discharges of the weapon "probably" one was a test. I suggest you try to keep an accurate count while being tazered.

BTW...he doesn't indicate that the downloaded data was correct and authenticated.

Was Alemozaffar pushed by the cops because he refused to leave or was he leaving the area and the cops pushed him for no reason?

What made the cop throw Alemozaffar to the ground, handcuff him and taser him? Because he complained about being pushed?

Something isn’t adding up.
