In the cesspool that Washington has become, truth and clarity still manage to bubble to the surface on occasion.
As Senator Hillary Clinton intensifies and refines her spin, deception, and self-aggrandizement, she inadvertently slipped up in a big way and revealed a truth that will doom her campaign and her party’s chances to reclaim the White House in 2008.
Last week, while campaigning in New Hampshire, Senator Clinton said, “It’s a horrible prospect to ask yourself, ‘What if? What if?’ But if certain things happen between now and the election, particularly with respect to terrorism, that will automatically give the Republicans an advantage again…”
Said comment was immediately attacked by some of her Democratic rivals for the White House. Why? Because they don’t want the voters of America to be reminded that when it comes to terrorism, the Republican candidates are much more willing to do whatever it takes to protect the homeland.
About the same time that Senator Clinton was offering a truth she is now desperate to take back, Vice Admiral (Ret) John Scott Redd, the Head of the National Counterterrorism Center, was granting an interview to Newsweek magazine in which he categorically stated that “We have very strong indicators that Al Qaeda is planning to attack the West.” When pressed on where, he continued, “Well, they would like to come West, and they would like to come as far West as they can.” Obviously, “as far West as they can,” would be the United States.
The citizens of our nation are very intelligent. More intelligent than most of those now running for president. They fully understand, that if we can’t stop these terrorists, then nothing else really matters. Not health care, not education, not energy consumption, and not the condition of our infrastructures. The American people know that job one of any president is the national security of our nation. Get that wrong and say goodbye to all the other issues. Period.
When it comes to fighting terrorists, our fellow citizens continually wonder what part of “We plan to exterminate America” our politicians don’t understand? They know that unless destroyed, these Islamists will never stop until their stated goal is achieved.
Sadly, these very same Americans cast their eyes toward Washington and see ethically and morally challenged politicians from both sides of the aisle who put their needs or the needs of their party, before the national security interests of the United States. In the guise of our nation’s capital, they see a opaque cesspool of hedonism that has managed to attract the weak of character into its epicenter.
But, through all of that, the intuition of most Americans still allows them to acknowledge several truths fighting to escape the cesspool. The first being that in spite their many flaws, (a number of which that have recently filled the front pages of our newspapers) the Republicans will take the fight to the terrorists where they sleep and hide. The second being that logic dictates that Vice Admiral John Scott Redd, and others who warn of an impending terrorist attack, are sadly, most likely correct. The last truth they see -- exactly because of the cesspool that Washington has become -- is that the only hope for this country will be to elect a Republican from outside of its corrupting sphere of influence.
Clearly, Hillary Clinton has come to this same conclusion. That said, the next President of the United States will either be Republican outsider Mitt Romney or Republican outsider Rudy Giuliani.
I wouldn't bet on it.

Based on what evidence? I don't want to seem like a war monger because I really hate the way the war has dragged on, but Republicans can be counted on to retaliate and then to back off. Once the MSM gets their marching orders from the DNC, they will begin to look for "war crimes" and excessive violence and dissention. They will condemn unequal reprisals and will seek to Vietnamize the next conflict too.
I don't know which next Republican would be able to bring back the horror of war to our enemies so that they might be reminded why it is not a good plan to attack the US.
The nomination process will make the general election anti climatic. When the curtains close around us on Election Day, we won’t elect the beast. Her nomination will hurt the rat’s whole ticket. The only question is how much, not if.
The loses last Nov. can be isolated to foley, haggard, ney cunningham and a few local issues. Those who believe we lost because of “Too much spending, after all I’ve heard that said so many times on various sites.” Are fooling themselves. The average voter does not know or understand the federal debt and gets glassy eyes when it is mentioned. The loss did come from voters wanting out of the war. We were largely scandaled out and we didn’t work hard enough. This country is not 60/40 conservative, but contrary to the liberal line, it still is a conservative counrty. America is probably 53/47 conservative and this presents a great opportunity to win next year. The beast’s nomination will be helpful, but we will have to work hard to nail it down.

I’m still skeptical the Dems will actually nominate HillBilly. They’re just too much of a target.
Somehow, there’ll be a big shakeup before the primaries I think...if not the Dems are really in trouble. =:-D

The Dems don't wish to spend anything to do that. The Republicans have spent just about as much as can be stuffed down the national defense barrel to destroy the enemy.
It's going to take a long time. It's kind of like the Civil War. For some folks it began in 1861. For others it started about 1848. Yet others note that it had its beginnings in 1619 when the first slave escaped Jamestown and didn't stop running until he got to the Indian settlement near today's Beacon Mall in Fairfax County.
Just be glad you haven't had anything happen to you that turns your adrenalin on 24/7 for the last 6 years.

Identify. Eliminate. Repeat with excess force against foreign enemies.
I don't want to see our brave troops fail to return fire because our foreign enemies seek cover within friendly villages. The DNC/MSM salivates to show those photos and to denounce it as barbaric treatment of the innocents.
While at the same time said Republican President has left our northern and southern borders wide open for anyone to cross at will, which has allowed an invasion of millions of people with unknown motiviations into this country. Add to that dozens of major ports that go virtually unprotected (seen it with my own eyes), ditto inland waterways, major infrastructure such as bridges, dams, and high tension power lines. I see his point. We're not on a war footing by any stretch....but there's lots of smoke and mirrors.....
