Fred Thompson, the actor and former Tennessee senator whose flirtation with a presidential bid has frustrated some supporters, will file papers to officially enter the race next Thursday, his campaign manager told key backers this afternoon.
"Fred is definitely is going to make the race," campaign manager Bill Lacy told members of the Thompson campaign's national finance team in a conference call. "We are in this race to win." Lacy said Thompson will also announce his campaign on a webcast next Thursday. After that he is expected to visit Iowa Sept. 7, New Hampshire on Sept. 8 and 9, and South Carolina after that. There will also be events Sept. 13-15 in Florida and Tennessee, Lacy said.

Seems to me I heard somewhere that the majority of funds raised in any campaign (charitable or otherwise) come in the form of tiny donations - $25 or less. From then on I always felt better about my limited ability to donate, and I make sure I give something, no matter how insignificant I might think it is.
With them an even number is still odd...

And posts like that come from drama queens.
You don’t build a political organization and a financial network overnight.
Legally, the perjury article of impeachment was far from “open and shut.” In fact, according to Thompson:
“Never has the Senate convicted on an article worded such as this. Several crimes or categories of crimes (the exact number cannot be determined from reading the article) are charged in this one article. The perjurious statements are not described, nor are their dates. In large part, this article charges that the President committed perjury because he denied prior perjury. At the outset, it is clear that a count such as this in an indictment would not survive court challenge...”
Had the House of Representatives drawn up a perjury article that would have withstood the test of law, I believe Fred would have voted for it. He voted for the obstruction of justice article.

“I would say, judging from the avg, RP thread, about 8-10...”
Kind of like the number of votes he’ll get in any given state in the primaries.
I believe that.
Just about everybody I know here in Tennessee believes in straight talk, regardless of political affiliation.
And I can tell everybody I know why I support Fred Thompson. I can’t give much money, but there are a lot of small efforts that can add up to a lot.
They don’t call us “Volunteers” for nothing. Give us a cause and we’ll rally. Remember, we defeated Al Gore in his own state during his bid for President. We ain’t shy about our convinctions here (grin)
Would you prefer that Thompson and some of the other conservative members (Gen. Al Haig, John Bolton, William F. Buckley, etc.) of the Council resign?
“Yep. Definitely maybe.”
Where did you see “maybe” in this?
“Hitlary, Edwards and Oh-bama all announced a couple of years before the election. What, is FDT better than they are??? Well...yeah! He is.”
And unlike them, he had a job.
I’m supportive of Fred’s entry into the race, and particularly looking forward to him speaking in more than platitudes. I like his general philosophy, but I can only support him so far and remain intellectually honest without some policy specifics. Philosophy is nice, but it is good ideas that rally a nation and win elections.
“He was (not sure if he still is) a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. A staunch pro-globalist organization.”
“We’re not afraid of globalization. It works to our benefit. We innovate more and invest in that innovation better than anywhere else in the world. Same thing goes for services. Free trade and market economies have done more for freedom and prosperity than a central planner could ever dream and we’re the world’s best example of that.” FDT
He’s a free trade globalist junkie, a CFRer and worse...
“I don’t believe most Americans are as concerned about the 12 million that are here as they are about the next 12 million after that.”
WRONG.
“Prove you can secure the border and then sit down and work out the rest of it. “
What’s to “work out” Fred?
Thompson:
Youre going to have to, in some way, work out a deal where they can have some aspirations of citizenship but not make it so easy that its unfair to the people waiting in line and abiding by the law.
vs.
Duncan Hunter:
“As for the 12 million illegal immigrants already in the nation, Hunter told the crowd, “They have to go home.”
The CFR has been the driving force behind governmental policy in regards to lax ed border enforcement, Mexican trucker pilot program (beginning this weekend), Trans-Texas Corridor.
The CFR is driven by big business and globalist. American sovereignty is no longer and issue, it is an obstacle.
They make no secret about any of this nor do they hide their membership roles.
If you don’t feel organizations such as CFR, Trilateral Commission, United Nations are a threat to America...well then ok. I see corporate and government greed / power through and through.
I am seeing millions of Americans are finally waking up to
issues important to this nations future survival...and these organizations ain’t in that group.
Damn straight! Throw in Kissinger while your at it.
Globalist policies run amok has caused a policy shift in America that favors:
*Massive illegal immigration (cheap labor)
*Socialized society (due to ever increasing taxation and overloaded entitlement programs)
*Millions of “well paying” jobs shifted out of this country (for the corporate bottom line)
*Soon a national health care system (yet more taxation),
*Nafta super highway (out of control imminent domain land seizures), Mexican trucker pilot program, circumvention of American truckers, port workers, long shore-man.
*Huge increase in cheap and or dangerous Chinese products hitting our shores (again for the corporate bottom line)
*Absurdly negotiated trade deals that are so lopsided and in favor competitor countries that it has caused our trade deficit to explode.
*Policies that allowed a communist country (technically still our military adversary) to hold billions in American securities “debt”. The ramifications of this Globalist policy could be astronomically detrimental to this country.
I’ll spare ya more of the dirty little secrets of corporate greed and power supported by the likes of the CFR.
Wake up America! If you think this is all for the good of the Average Joe....your mistaken.
We don’t need to deport millions of illegals...only the ones caught for DUI, Assault, Rape, Murder or other crimes.
The rest....take away the incentive to be here. Boom, done.
It's gonna be a fun and interesting few months until Iowa, eh?
Hope we get a good, fair fight with only a few low blows (this IS politics, after all)...
You go girl(angler)! We thank you in Tennessee for your good sense in rejecting Al Gore and your future efforts in saving our country. You are good people! (Wish I could say the same for the blue-state madness where I live)
