The Castro team
Waterbury Republican-American ^ | August 30, 2007 | Editorial

Fidel Castro is an ingrate. That must be what Sen. Christopher Dodd is thinking now that Cuba's communist tyrant has endorsed a Democratic ticket of Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama. "The word today is that an apparently unbeatable ticket could be Hillary for president and Obama as her running mate," he wrote in a column Tuesday in Cuba's Communist Party newspaper, Granma. He also had nice things to say about two of his favorite stooges: Jimmy Carter, for trying to normalize relations between the United States and Cuba during his feckless presidency; and Bill Clinton, for his part in the "rescue" and deportation of Elian Gonzalez in 2000.

Adding to Sen. Dodd's frustration was Castro's column ran just days after Sens. Clinton and Obama called for democratic reforms in Cuba. Castro dismissed their statements as campaign fluff, sarcastically writing: "Both of them feel the sacred duty of demanding a democratic government in Cuba."

After all Sen. Dodd has done for Castro in his three decades in Congress, one would think Castro might have given the senator's languid presidential campaign a little boost. But Sen. Dodd rated not a word in the diatribe.

Congress' strongest proponent of normalized relations with Cuba and most reliable coddler of socialist dictators, Sen. Dodd beat back the nominations of such anti-communist diplomats as John Bolton, Otto Reich and Roger Noriega. His successes relieved international pressure on the Castro regime, led to today's rising tide of socialism in Latin America and helped Castro's latest sugar daddy, Hugo Chavez, turn back an attempted coup in 2002 that would have restored democracy to the Venezuelan people.

But this is the thanks one gets when one is a useful idiot.

He is dead but that is little impediment to his publishing an editorial endorsing Hillary.

BTW, I hear Vince Foster and Ron Brown will be the next ones up with Clintanoid endorsements.

Dodd never met a communist dictator that he didn't like and Fidel doesn't even mention him. That is funny.

Yes! Just thinking about it here, the man who, with Che Guevera, went around murdering execution style, to gain control and continued for 52 years, all the while murdering political prisoners (and journalist included) actually worships Hillary. I guess even he sees the potential there, even almost dead. What an endorsement!

I agree. I just shake my head every time I hear these liberals bashing Bush, conservatives, the military about how bad they are, yet they love the Soviets and RagHeads, each who have killed millions upon millions. The paradise they THINK they want is not what it seems. They are so stupid that they lack the common sense to understand that the RagHeads will kill them all if they come to power and that if the Marxist Dimocrat party gets in full charge and develops a Soviet Amerika, then they are subject to the gulag or being murdered for their thoughts and actions.

If an American General Officer does bad, he is relieved and forced to retire. If a Soviet or Red Chinese general did bad, they were SHOT! Quite the difference, yet these stupid liberals refuse to believe it. They will destroy this Republic and they are doing it day by day.
