YUMA - Private guard watching construction equipment along the U.S.-Mexico border in southwestern Arizona allege they were shot at from Mexico.
The Border Patrol says a Pinkerton Government Services security officer reported that he and two other guards heard 12 to 15 gunshots Wednesday morning, and immediately afterward they spotted a car driving slowly along Mexican Highway 2.
The Border Patrol dispatched a helicopter to the rural area and the crew spotted the vehicle driving off road south of a military checkpoint in Mexico.
Mexican authorities were notified of the incident. No one was injured.
The Border Patrol said the Pinkerton personnel are guarding equipment used on a building project along the border about 30 miles south of Wellton.
There was a time when shooting at Pinkertons was a really bad idea.
If I hear 12 to 15 gunshots I don't assume that I'm being shot at. Now if I see things ricocheting around me indicating that bullets are striking, that's another story.
No need to worry, Jorge has your back....seriously! Hey, I’m not fooling here....sheeesh, why doesn’t anyone believe me?
These guys found that out the hard way:
Ooops, turns out it was a backpack-style leaf blower backfiring. Pardone me!
That security officer better hope Johnny Sutton doesn’t get wind of this.
If you hear a zing, you had better take cover.
Darn Right.
But somebody better tell these pinkerton guys that dove season opens next week so if they hear a bunch of shots, it might just be a bunch of rednecks out trying to bag their limit on opening day.
It would really suck to be out dove hunting with your buddies, open fire on a flock of doves flying over only to have some jumpy nervous nellie security guard "return fire" because he heard shots.
Gunshots fired is just something that happens on the border, I can't count the number of times I've heard shots fired from the other side of the border. I don't worry about it if I don't hear bullets flying overhead.
It must be hard for them to decide either to laugh or yawn at these reports before ignoring them.
The US Mexico border may not be the best choice of places to hunt anything.
It’s well past the time when the U.S. Government should be lobbing a few 1,000 pound bombs back over the border in response to one of these incidents. Maybe then, when a few corrupt government officials get killed, the Mexican Government might start to pay attention to their side of the border.
There was a time when shooting at any Americans was a really bad idea...
You won't hear the one that gets you.
“Mexican authorities were notified of the incident.”
...and promised not to do it again.
This is impossible, guns are illegal in mexico.
“The Border Patrol said the Pinkerton personnel are guarding equipment used on a building project along the border about 30 miles south of Wellton.”
Don’t suppose it was a..............................................................................................................FENCE??
These guys???? I think you’ve got your history mixed up. Those guys, if they are the James boys, kicked Pinkertons butt. All Pinkertons could do was blow off their mothers arm.
These guys(James&Youngers) lost out up in Minnesota to town folks.
“There was a time when shooting at Pinkertons was a really bad idea.
There was a time when shooting at any Americans was a really bad idea...”
Yeah :-)
