Highwaymen take their toll: They’ll drive us to poorhouse
Boston Herald ^ | August 30, 2007 | Michael Graham

Posted on 08/30/2007 11:35:29 AM PDT by suspects

[“The Democratic House leadership yesterday agreed to plug last year’s budget deficit with a temporary, 18-month hike in the state’s income tax.” - Boston Herald, July 4, 1989.]

Here we go again.

First we had the “temporary” tolls on the Mass Pike to cover the 30-year bonds issued in 1952.

Then there was the “temporary, 18-month hike in the state’s income tax” in 1989.

And now, according to Casey Ross’ story in yesterday’s Herald, our “Lucy Van Pelt” Legislature is counting on voters to have another Charlie Brown moment as they pick up the “temporary tax hike” football yet again.

This time it’s a “short-term” gas tax, reportedly in the 9-cents-a-gallon range. That’s about $270 million a year out of our pockets. To be paid for by money left under your pillow each night by the Toll Fairy. Honest. Would the Legislature lie to you?

The temporary gas tax is just one new idea from sticky-fingered state pols. Another is to add tolls to I-93, and then start increasing all tolls during rush hour. The premise of so-called “congestion pricing” is that just because hard-working taxpayers pay for the roads doesn’t mean we should be allowed to use them when we need them.

That costs extra.

What really ticks me off is that Ma$$holes vote for these taxes, then they run north across the border to NH to escape them. Now, NH is threatening to turn into Vermont with the influx of libtards.

Sheesh.

Fool me twice? Oh that’s right Michael is new to the area or he’d know that The House of Reprehensables under the Dukakis Administration raised the Gas Tax twice to raise revenue for “our crumbling roads and bridges”. Then since all the roads and bridges couldn’t be fixed at the same time and prioritizing them would be mean spirited, the money went into the general Fund and pissed away.

Unspoken is the war brewing between greater Boston and the rest of the state. These tax hikes were supposed to be on just those commuters to the west of Boston (i.e. red necks who might even own a gun and be Republicans). But this snarky little plan was exploded, so now commuters on the North and South shores (i.e. 95% Liberal Democrat) are also in the barrel for higher taxes. It’s quite a show.

Too late NH is already Vermont/Mass/Maine/RI/Conn. They went blue last November. Can an income tax "for the children" be far behind?

Nikki Tsongas is running for Congress...

I've held the long standing opinion that girls named Nikki are always hot. That was shattered today thanks to the magic of google.

On second thought, Ms. Tsongas' name is spelled Niki so my theory holds, for now.

Join the club. Liberal Californians destroyed their state and decided that Colorado was so pristine and wonderful (although the minute they moved here they began ridiculing the conservatives who had made the state what it was). Now they are in the process of destroying our state too.

I sold my place on the Cape in June and bailed out of that pathetic socialist cesspool just in time. When those fools elected “Coupe”DeVal as their Governor I knew what would happen and I was proved right almost immediately.

No sooner had the votes been counted then “Coupe”decided that all graduates of High school in MA should have a free college education(free, Coupe?)Then he has the brainstorm that MA should set up a fund to make whole anyone suffering under the torture of an adjustable rate mortgage reset. Then word began to spread that this “I can do it all”lib was looking for ways around the proposition passed by the Legislature in 1980. Proposition 2.5, sharply reduced local property taxes and restricted their future growth.

Cape Cod is beautiful but being among these socialist lunatics became more then I could bear and when the handwriting on the wall become alarmingly obvious as to where the State was headed, we joined the increasing number of the population deciding to abandon the Bay State.

It is interesting to note that Mass. is actually losing population as more and more people decide to migrate back to America.

Don’t worry, illegals will pour in to replace theose fleeing.

I drove through much of Mass in May/June, and to me it looked like it would five years after a string of nuclear bombs hit.

little along I95 but closed factories and cute vineyards.

I currently live in SC. They are coming to the Charlotte area too.

So, it’s true. Liberalism IS a disease. And it’s spreading like a virus across the country!

I used to drive truck up through N.Y., R.I., Conn., and Ma.

The rest stops are almost ALL serviced by Mexican-looking people.

Serviced meaning the order takers at the MacDo's and other fast food joints.

My last act as a Masshole was to vote for Muffy and flee the damned place. My worry is that I still own property in Mass, will I ever be able to get rid of it?
