WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Justice Department said Thursday it is investigating whether resigning Attorney General Alberto Gonzales lied or otherwise mislead Congress last month in sworn testimony about the Bush administration's domestic terrorist spying program.
The inquiry, confirmed by Justice Department Inspector General Glenn A. Fine, comes three days after Gonzales abruptly announced he was stepping down despite months of vowing he would remain on the job.
In a letter to Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy, who two weeks ago asked for the inquiry, Fine said his investigators believe they "will be able to assess most of the issues that you raise in your letter."
Leahy had also asked Fine to look into . . .

AND, I’m waiting for the SHE-DEVIL’S examination of honesty.....waiting, waiting
Fine was confirmed to his present position just one month before President Clinton left office. He joined DOJ in 1995. He is a Harvard graduate, a son of a long-time DOJ attorney, and apparently well-connected. Sounds like he is all too willing to do Leahy’s bidding.

Just another NWO Clintonite Worm
Too bad Senators are under the same oath to tell the truth. We could drag all their butts into jail.
She doesn’t member what the current revisionist historical position is on that matter...
Lying to Congress is a crime. One that John Kerry committed back in the Vietnam war.
Yeah I know, but why isn’t it a crime to by a lying Congresscritter.
Can Gonzales fire the IG before he leaves office?
Yeah, why don’t we spotlight Her Thighness’s honesty or lack of it?
“This week, congressional Democrats vowed to investigate Attorney General Alberto Gonzales’ firing of himself. Gonzales has said he was not involved in the discussions about his firing and that it was “performance-based,” but he couldn’t recall the specifics.”
Too funny!

I don’t know.. his first job out of law school was Assistant United States Attorney in the Washington, D.C. under President Reagan..although there is a gap in his record from 1990-1995 when he came to Justice. I don’t know what he did in the mean time.
Probably, but he’s too laid back to do anything like that. Being overly non-combative is a lot of his problem. Gonzales may be an excellent analytical doctor of law and supreme court justice, but he does not project an aura of leadership. What the situation required was a political infighter as well as a learned consitutional lawyer, in the same person; a most unusual combination, but this is an unusual time.
