Hillary Answers Hsu Questions, Spitzer Helps by Jason Horowitz

Sen Hillary Clinton said today that she was "surprised" to learn that one of her bundlers, Norman Hsu, had a warrant out for his arrest related to a California fraud case.
"Obviously we were all surprised by this news and we have a procedure that we follow and upon verifying it we returned his money and continue to analyze all contributions and take action if that's warranted," she said.
Clinton, answering questions after a press conference about children's health insurance with Eliot Spitzer at the governor's office in midtown, went on to say, "I wish Mr. Hsu well in all the problems that he is confronting."
She refused to respond as to why she had given to charity the money Hsu contributed directly to her campaign but not the money he had raised by bringing in other donors.
Clinton was then pressed to respond to critics who said the Hsu matter was similar to past Clinton fund-raising controversies, such as letting top donors sleep in the White House's Lincoln bedroom.
"I don't think it's analagous at all," she said.
"When you have as many contributors as I am fortunate enough to have, we do the very best job we can on the information available."
Spitzer then jumped in, effectively blocking any more questions on the issue, saying, "I think it's a fair question to ask - is Sen Clinton's campaign or any campaign supposed to doing a better job than the authorities of California who theoretically had an open warrant for this guy and didn't do anything? Come on, guys. Let's get real."
That response prompted a question about whther Clinton's presence at the press conference was a show of support for the embattled governor - which he was returning in kind.
"Well," said Clinton, "I support the governor."
"Me? I know nussing! Nussing!!"
That is the scariest thing I've heard today (and that includes the discovery of phosgene gas at the UN).
Spitzer’s helped out before, hasn’t he...Dietrich Snell and Weldon’s Able Danger hearings.
Hillary Clinton Expresses Surprise at Big Money Donor's Wanted Status
If elected President, would Ms. Clinton pardon Hsu upon leaving office?
I agree 1000-percent.
Those under investigation are always aware several days in advance that a story is coming out in the press. (take it from a former journalist)
I fully believe that Democrat sympathizers -- who make up the bulk of government investigative agencies such as the US (Fitzgerald) Justice Dept., the FBI, BIG city police depts such as MINNEAPOLIS, Philadelphia, New York and ESPECIALLY the Wash DC park police -- have tipped off the liberal muck rakers to various stories.
While at the same time HIDING those on Democrats.
Remember when Congressman Kennedy had a drunk driving accident in Wash DC about two years ago.
The Wash police FREAKIN' drove him home, and likely would not have even charged him with anything had not someone complained.
The Republicans are always under three times as much scrutiny as Dems.
Which is why Larry Craig must go -- NOW -- if not sooner. He is a perverted idiot, and an embarassment to the GOP.
Not just for being a perv, but for being an idiot.
If Hillary is elected President, she would declare matial law for people like us, and take away all our guns, and give all felons a free pass, just like her husband did.

Everyone knows they’re dirty,
everyone knows they’re taking money from the COMMUNIST Chinese,
and the left and the MSM will do anything they can to enable and cover up,
just like they did when Lenin was slaughtering millions of people.
So by this you mean to say that Spitzer also received 10K from this guy.
She would do anything she wants, including pre-pardoning herself for any criminal acts she may have committed or will commit in the future.
I am confused. Exactly what has happened to the money HSU gave to Hillary?
At the top of the story it states she returned the money to Hsu——””Obviously we were all surprised by this news and we have a procedure that we follow and upon verifying it we returned his money”
Later on in the story it states she gave the money to charity——”She refused to respond as to why she had given to charity the money Hsu contributed directly to her campaign”
If, in fact, she gave the money to charity, then the obvious question for the reporters covering this story is what charity received the money?
Perhaps it went to the Harold Ickes Foundation.
It is interesting that she claimed she returned it before she said it went to charity. If I gave money to charity or returned it to the person who gave it to me, I would know about it an not misspeak.
If the money was illegal, she had no choice but to return it to the donor. That is the FEC reg.
Handling Illegal Contributions
The treasurer of a committee is responsible for ensuring that all contributions are lawful. 11 CFR 103.3(b). If the treasurer has reason to suspect that a contribution is excessive or prohibited, he or she must, within 10 days of receiving the contribution, either return the contribution to the donor or deposit the contribution. 11 CFR 103.3(a). If the contribution is deposited, the treasurer must:
Maintain sufficient funds in the account to refund the contribution should it prove to be illegal or place the contribution in a separate account for this purpose;
Keep written records noting the basis for the appearance of illegality;
Note that the legality of the contribution is in question when reporting the receipt of the contribution; and
Comply with appropriate deadlines (see sections below).
11 CFR 103.3(b)(4) and (5).
Not only that, but the donation is tax deductible.
To a charity that sends funds to HRC’s Election kitty.
At this point, they’re not acknowledging the donations were actually illegal. Technically, that’s not yet been established. It’s a good bet they were illegal, but right now, the charity giveaway ploy works to demonstrate how pure they are. Money from a convicted felon? Why, I never!
