Manchester – The latest in a series of monthly New Hampshire presidential preference polls shows Barack Obama well behind Hillary Clinton, while Mitt Romney holds a narrow lead over Rudy Giuliani.

Clinton......37%

Obama........17%

Edwards......14%

Richardson...7%

.

ROMNEY.......27%

Giuliani.....23%

McCain.......12%

Huchabee......9%

Fred..........8% (dropped like a stone!)

The American Research Group's July survey had Obama and Clinton in a tie, although other New Hampshire surveys found that the former first lady held a solid lead over the Illinois senator.

The radically different numbers released today by ARG for August -- Clinton at 37 percent, Obama 17 percent, Edwards 14 percent, Richardson 7 percent -- gave her an even bigger lead than other national surveys.

In the Republican race, ARG gives Romney 27 percent of the likely primary vote, Rudy Giuliani 23 percent and John McCain 12 percent. Fred Thompson slipped to 8 percent, falling behind the biggest gainer, Mike Huckabee, at 9 percent, up from just 1 percent in July.

A solid plurality of GOP-leaning independents in the survey backed Romney, while registered Republicans narrowly backed Giuliani. Almost half the Democratic-leaning independents backed Clinton, while only 5 percent of those swing voters support Edwards.

Ron Paul's enthusiastic volunteers have pushed the Texas congressman's numbers up as well. Paul, whose support was too small to measure for most of the year, was backed by 3 percent of those surveyed.

The surveys were taken from August 26 to 29. Six hundred likely voters in each primary were polled. For full results and further details on the polls' methodology, click the ARG links below.

This isn’t surprising.NH is now controlled by RAT refugees from Massachusetts so in order to see how NH will vote in an election just look at the Gay State.

Nevertheless, it is distressing for Fred supporters because he HAS been up there, several times.

But, has hasn't even announced. Let's worry about the numbers after he's thrown his hat in the ring.

Don’t worry about Fred’s numbers in an ARG poll. This firm is battling with Zogby for the worst in the land.

Ron Paul's enthusiastic volunteers have pushed the Texas congressman's numbers up as well.

Did he double his numbers? Wow, if you double ONE PERCENT you get TWO PERCENT.

My worry about the upcoming elections is Hillary on the left and two psuedo-conservatives running on the right (’92 anyone?). The rights vote is split, hello Prez. Hillary

Far from being scientific, but in my conversations with people in NH, I believe there is a lot of buyer's remorse going on after the '06 election i.e. hissy fit. If I am wrong, I'll be out of here at retirement.

The coronation of Hillary! is on track.
The MSM is working overtime to keep the American people from knowing, and thus disliking, the real Hillary!
All of the questionable activities surrounding the Clintons just tends to disappear from public attention. Hillary!’s past will be ignored, or manufactured to fit the MSM template. And we’ll all be chaistized as sexist if we don’t vote for the Queen.

Excuse me while I go be sick.

NH has been trending blue for years.Anyone who's been paying attention could know that the process was unstoppable (short of sealing the MA-NH border) and that '06 was not a fluke but, rather, the logical culmination of that process.

I predict here and now that both House seats in '09 will be filled by fellow travelers and that if there's a Senate seat open in '08 a fellow traveler will win that too.

The 'he's not in yet' defense is getting a little tedious. Fred is as "in" as if he were an announced candidate, and in some cases, he isn't making any headway. I wish he were. I wish he were the second coming of Ronald Reagan. But he needs to show a little more.

As to the ARG/Zogby, seems to me that ALL the polls were right in 2006, and I urged people to ignore them. Well, I, for one, have learned my lesson. Zogby was slightly off in the final margins, but he had the right winners picked in every poll, just as ARG did.

Yes, as the nation has been trending D, and exacerbated here by the dimwits who want to escape Mass, only to vote for the politicians who espouse policies that would turn NH in the MA-north, as you note.

BUT, that doesn't tell the whole story. If you look at the election results in my congressional district, the moonbat (Hodes) gained only a few more votes than he did in a losing 2004 campaign against Charlie Bass.

The big difference was that voters didn't show up:

In 04, there were roughly 327K votes cast in the district, vs. only 205K votes in 06. Hodes got 109K votes in an '04 losing effort, compared to Bass' 191K. In 06, Hodes picked up a few more, with 109K voters, while Bass's numbers PLUMETED to only 94K.

That shows, plain as day, that Republican voters stayed home.

One correction: In 06, Hodes picked got 125K, compared to 109K in 04. Bass went from 191K to 94K.

And I just checked the First Congressional District in NH, and the results are virtually identical. Far fewer votes cast, with the Republican candidate/incumbent (Bradleys) numbers plummeting, while the Moonbat candidate (Shea Porter) picked up only a few more than the 04 dem candidate.

Again, a large number of Republicans just stayed home.

I do not support and was not making apologies for fred, simple making an observation about how wildly the ARG polls tend to swing during the primary season.
I personally believe polls are worthless by themselves and must be taken as a whole before a more accurate picture of the race can be seen.
