A Dem congressman from Washington state, who opposed the war, has stood up for America and our troops. Not surprisingly, the leftist America-haters have jumped on him. Moveon.org is running ads against him. He needs to hear from you.
A few days ago I called Brian Baird's DC office to thank him. This morning, I called the Vancouver office, giving them my name and location: Will you please pass on a message to the congressman? (Answer: yes) Please tell him that my son in law, who is stationed at Oak Harbor, is on an aircraft carrier, probably off the coast of Iran. He and his pals want the congressman to know that they are grateful to him for standing up for America and supporting them.
The woman who answered the phone was grateful, and I thought she was almost going to cry.
FReepers, it will just take a minute. When someone faces the heat of the American-hating left, particularly when he does it to his political detriment, he needs to hear from us. Please make a phone call.

MoveOn Slams Democrat for ‘Flip-Flop’ on Iraq By Randy Hall CNSNews.com Staff Writer/Editor August 30, 2007
(CNSNews.com) - The anti-war group MoveOn.org announced on Wednesday that it is launching an ad campaign against a Democrat — calling attention to Rep. Brian Baird’s support of “President Bush’s failed policy in Iraq.”
The Washington State Democrat is acting “against the views of his constituents” and against his previous voting record, the liberal group said.
“Congressman Baird’s new position, in favor of keeping our troops in an un-winnable civil war in Iraq, is out of line with the majority of his district and the nation,” said Nita Chaudhary of the MoveOn.org Political Action Committee, in an e-mail message that described the Democrat’s shift on the issue as a “recent flip-flop.”
“So far, this has been one of the bloodiest summers in Iraq, and voters don’t want to continue down a failed path,” Chaudhary added. “They want representatives who will stand up to President Bush’s reckless policy and bring our troops home.”

Thanks for pinging. I’ve called all three offices. They really are grateful to hear from us.
If he really loved America he would leave the democratic party.
Thanks for this thread, DFU, the more calls the better.
I understand. He just did something right. We need to acknowledge that.
I live in Cong. Baird’s district (dark blue). It is unusual for me to say something like this, but for a DIM he represents the district pretty well. (given the chances for a pubbie in the seat)
Dear RAT,
As long as you are a RAT, you get no respect or vote from me. In short, I don’t want to hear crap from you again, until you become a Republocant at a minimum.
VPINTHEAK
You can email your thanks and encouragement to Rep. Baird, too, at
http://www.house.gov/baird/IMA/email.shtml
Somebodie’s stupidity is showing!
I made three calls. My son in law is on an aircraft carrier and I email him about what is happening over here. He likes to hear that some people are standing up for America and giving them the support they need to finish the mission. I made the calls to say thanks for him. We disagree with Baird on a number of issues, but when he stands up for America and our troops, he has done the right thing.
And now you appear. You are free to say what you want here, but I don’t appreciate what you put on my thread. Please go crap in someone else’s living room. Thanks.
Done, Doug. The Washington office was closed for the day so I left a voicemail, but the two other numbers were manned and promised to pass along the message.
I would have to see an immense amount of positive action (support of the president, the war on terror, border control, tax cuts, etc) from a Democrat before I can trust one and especially if I am to support one. They would have to walk the walk. What a shame to see what my Father’s party has become, and he would be so ashamed of the Democrat party of today if he were still here with us.
I am not suggesting we support him. I am suggesting we thank him for standing up for America and our troops. By taking an unpopular stand, he is showing courage and putting the interest of America ahead of his party. Because of that, he is being hammered by the anti-American leftist surrender monkeys. At least on this, he needs to know we respect him for what he is doing.
Thanks. I’m sure they were glad to hear from you. Where have those days gone when both Dems and Republicans would stand up for their country first. May that America-loathing party go the way of the Whigs, sooner rather than later.
I apologize Doug. My brother recently got back from a 9 month hard tour of duty, where my father & I had the oportunity to ride the Aircraft carrier home from Pearl Harbor to Pendleton with him, what an experience to say the least.
I will not help any democrat on any issue though for any reason. I strongly feel they are a party of evil, by evil, and for evil. I shall clean up my crap, and move on never to crap on any of your threads again.
Thank you very much for the response. God bless your brother. That must have been great to be on the carrier and share the ride home!
I really do share your sentiments. I loathe the other side that is doing incalculable damage to our country. Certainly, Baird would never get my vote, but on this one issue, he is doing the right thing for America.
Let’s fight the battle together, my friend.
Yeah, that’s really clever.
