Fred Thompson's campaign-in-waiting will hold a 4 p.m. conference call today with supporters to brief them on plans for the former Tennessee senator's presidential announcement next week, according to an e-mail obtained by Politico.com

“Once again your motives are blatantly exposed. You complain about an annnouncement that is not an announcement. You assert that Fred may be making an announcement today.”
What complete nonsense. In #160 I provide links that interpret WHATEVER they plan to announce today as: a definitely announcement of his candidacy at Red State, and here at FR an announcement about an announcement date. That illustrates exactly what I’ve said from the first: poor communications, rumours that hang around and create confusion, and a failure, for several months, to give supporters clarity on what to expect.
“Obviously neither facts nor logic mean little in your sense of reasoning. What part of FRED RESIGNS from Law and Order is not clear.”
Fred resigning from “Law and Order” did nothing to clarify rumours about announcement dates, his exact intentions, etc. That’s where he’s hurt himself: all the unclarified rumours about announcements, plans, etc.
Your cognitive dissonance is internal in providing random facts and speculation that don’t answer the questions being asked: Where has Fred ever cleared up rumours and provided his potential supporters with clarity as to what to expect.
That same situation exists this afternoon, as I’ve pointed out several times: an announcement of candidacy at Red State, the announcement of an announcement here at FR per my #160.
Poor communications that result in rumours and misleading information to potential supporters. A real and ongoing problem with Fred’s organization.
Denying the obvious does not lessen the damage this has done to his chances. You might deny it, but less ardent supporters or potential supporters won’t.
Well you got that kinda right. (No need to go into that now though. Half century thingie.)
One of the most crookedest (if that is a word) elections ever.
How the game was played a half century ago hardly matters today
That was not my point. It's traditional until this year for candidates to announce in the fall. Am I repeating myself here?
Or are you saying that for the last 50 years all candidates announced almost two years ahead of the elections?
Hope you feel better soon.
Cognitive dissonance is a psychological term describing the uncomfortable tension that may result from having two conflicting thoughts at the same time, or from engaging in behavior that conflicts with one’s beliefs, or from experiencing apparently conflicting phenomena.
In simple terms, it can be the filtering of information that conflicts with what you already believe, in an effort to ignore that information and reinforce your beliefs. In detailed terms, it is the perception of incompatibility between two cognitions, where “cognition” is defined as any element of knowledge, including attitude, emotion, belief, or behavior. The theory of cognitive dissonance states that contradicting cognitions serve as a driving force that compels the mind to acquire or invent new thoughts or beliefs, or to modify existing beliefs, so as to reduce the amount of dissonance (conflict) between cognitions. Experiments have attempted to quantify this hypothetical drive. Some of these have examined how beliefs often change to match behavior when beliefs and behavior are in conflict.
Social psychologist Leon Festinger first proposed the theory in 1957 after the publication of his book When Prophecy Fails, observing the counterintuitive belief persistence of members of a UFO doomsday cult and their increased proselytization after the leader’s prophecy failed. The failed message of earth’s destruction, purportedly sent by aliens to a woman in 1956, became a disconfirmed expectancy that increased dissonance between cognitions, thereby causing most members of the impromptu cult to lessen the dissonance by accepting a new prophecy: that the aliens had instead spared the planet for their sake.[1]
“I am not here to do your work for you. You want information handed to you about the L&O contracts. You need to look for it.”
I want, as has been asserted here, someone to provide the claimed information where Fred clarified the reasons for his long delayed announcement that’s cost him support. Some say because of the L&O situation, but I’ve said that’s just the speculation of supporters and not anything from Fred or his organization. No one has shown otherwise, and I wish someone could.
You won’t provide it because you can’t. Twisting it around where I’m suppose to substantiate YOUR claims, or anyone elses, proves that you can’t provide the information.
Many believe all the delays are due to indecisiveness, poor organization, or other factors that don’t bode well. No one has substantiated the claimed logical explanations supposedly provided by Fred or his organization.
All of your blather sure makes you sound like a Rooty Toot Retread.
Are you one of the moths that burned your wings off in the bug zapper?”
Brilliant logic and irrefutable information provided. Thanks.
Are you using Oxford debate tactics?
2012?...I hope the GOP is still around. :-)
“Kennedy announced in Jan of the year he ran and won.”
The timing of primaries is dramatically different now as compared to 1960. This will likely be decided by the end of February, or early March.
But to the Fred supporters, I live in Alabama and hoped that Fred would be a candidate I could be enthusiastic about.

Awwwww. Too bad.”
You must be of the George W. Bush school of how to solidify the Republican base, insult and sarcasm. Keep up the good work.
“See you at the bill signing.”
YW

Well of course his opponents are saying that! Politics, ya know...
He's doing better than most of the candidates, and he ain't even one yet! Shows what poor choices the others are. Well except for Hunter.
Hunter/Thompson Gonzo 2008!
All you unquestioning supporters better go and rescue this thread:

It’s not exactly starting out with the unquestioning Fred support you yourselves display.
Might be a problem of credibility after all the false starts and rumours left to fester.

“Read my posts on this thread. There you will find the logical explanations you seek.”
I’ve read them. Didn’t find what I sought. Time to let this thread go.

LOL
Right.
Awwww, how cute. A seminar caller.
Logic seem to be not what you are soughting
Good information. It might be that the announcements aren’t that different from the past few elections, but that debates and campaign ads, campaign events, etc., have started a few months sooner.
“Awwww, how cute. A seminar caller.”
Awww, not really cute. Somebody who parrots what they hear on talk radio. Very original.
What’s your WAnker name?
